Commercial Freight Listing Information
  • BIG MUFFLER MAN
  • Shipment Details: This item has not been purchased yet, waiting for an idea of freight cost. This statue known as a "Muffler Man" stand approx. 20' tall. I believe it is made from plaster and has a metal(rebar) frame. Please refer to the picture below. Update!!! Seller states the statue is made of fiberglass and can actually be taken apart. The weight is closer to 500lbs.
  • Packaging: The item is not packaged at all. Was figuring it would need to be tied down on a flatbed truck.
  • Dimensions(s):The item is referenced on the internet under Muffler Man. Depending on your location, there could be one near you which you could visit and inspect.
  • Total Weight:1200 lbs
  • Special Permit Required:No
Additional Information: This is obviously an item no one actually NEEDS, however if the cost is right on shipping, it is something we would like. The weight is actually unknown, will this create problems in the shipping cost?

Update, seller states the statue comes apart and is actually made of fiberglass. Thus reducing the weight to around 500 lbs.

Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hello. Being from that area, I have seen the "muffler man" many times. How fragile is this thing - would it need any special packaging or padding? Thanks, CIAH. (3/20/2007)
Response: Good question. The owner of the Muffler Man states that he comes apart at the waist. His arms come off as well as his head and hat. He is constructed from fiberglass and was probably constructed 30-40 years ago. I'm not sure how much this helps, but it's all I got. Perhaps if you live close enough, you could swing by to investigate. Just a thought. Thanks, Mark (3/21/2007)
Question: Are you still looking to move this? What price range are you looking at - maybe I can help you with this. Thanks. (3/27/2007)
Response: The price range is really what I need to understand. I have not purchased this Muffler Man yet, because I have no idea what the freight cost will be. I was hoping with a reasonable freight quote I could approach the seller with a reasonable offer. Please estimate your fee as close as possible and perhaps we can make the deal happen. Appreciate your time. Thanks Mark J. Smith (3/27/2007)
Question: I may be in that area to go by & take a look at it on Wednesday afternoon. Until then, the best guess on the shipping charges will be in the $4k range-is that something you can work with? Thanks. (3/27/2007)
Response: Well, thats a start. Maybe if you can look at it and get a better idea of what it might entail, I can go back to the seller with more info. The pricing with freight around $4k will probably price me out of the purchase. However, if you think taking a look might help, I'll gladly wait until Wed or Thur. Thanks Again, Mark (3/27/2007)
