Bid placed 11/7/2010 9:57 AM CST
Expires 11/12 9:57 AM
A couple of questions as I'd like to use you guys if the trip is a "go" and you're just working out the exact dates...
1. Can we agree on $950? Guess I'd need to decline the bid and you resubmit if you aree to lower your price)
2. My new gelding comes out of the trailer more comfortably by leading rather than backing--can your trailer accomodate this?
3. Looking for the shortest transit time possible (not counting weather, of course)...any idea yet how long he'd be on the road with you guys (I know you said "within five days").
Thanks much; I hope we can do this.
I am still working on the dates but its almost done and figured out. We dont add extra miles to any trip that would be to much for any horse on board. But we do have other pick up and drop offs that add time to the trip. Shouldnt bee more then 4 days but you will be in contact with Jim and myself the entire trip.
I may be able to lower the price to $950, but going over the mountains always cost more and is hard on the trucks and the horses so thats where the higher price comes in. And yes we can place your horse in an area where he can turn around and walk out.
Thanks for answering my questions so well. Do let me know if you decide you can get down to $950 and we'll do this.
Thanks much,
Tracy
Hi guys--I'm going to get with the lady in Ohio who has my horse to see what days between 11/12-11/18 would NOT work for her for pick up....I'll e-mail you with that info this evening....do leave a message if you have narrowed down your puck up date at all...
If the dates work for both of us, I'll accept the bid....
Thanks,
Tracy
I am guessing it will be the 15th. I hate to guess but as he still has 3000 miles of traveling to do with lots of pick ups and drop offs it is still hard to be exact. I hope that will work for you and the pick up point.
Thanks for the estimate on the date---
The folks at the Ohio end will not be available on the 14th from approx. 1-6 p.m., and on the 18th in the evening. Other than that they can be available for the pickup with advance notice of course.
Another question: the gelding's health cert was prepared on Oct. 18...so it could run out while the gelding is in transit with you folks. Do you want me to just have another one done before pick up (not a real big deal to do so), or is this health cert OK for you?
Let me know on the health cert, and if you can work around the schedule above, I'll accept the bid.
Thanks much!
Hi guys-
Wondered if you got my last question about whether you can work around the two times when the pick up folks are not available...don't want to have to cancel after I accept a bid.
Thanks!

Hi Cindy--
I''m looking for the shortest transit time possible for my new horse. When would you be able to narrow down the transit time. 10 days is too long for me...
Thanks.
WE put down 10 days for several reasons. 1 depends on the number of p/u and drop off along the route. 2 As a rule of thumb, we do not like to travel more than 600 miles a day, but on any given day, we try to stop by 9pm at the latest so that we all can have a good night rest. 3 It all depends on the weather and road conditions. There have been times when we have had to change our route due to the weather at this time of the year as well as for being stopped.
The minimum amount of time would be 3 days and in this case it should be no more than 7 days at max. Also it is just one driver on this trip. Yjrtr have been times when I-70 has been closed to truckers from Denver to Grand Junction and if this does happens, it means that we head on down to NM and take the back way in thru Durango and up.
Hi Cindy-
Your reasons were what I'd hoped them to be. Thanks!
This gelding is still learning to back out of a trailer...wondered if yours requires backing out or if a horse can be turned around and led out if need be. (Otherwise, he's supposed to be a good hauler).
Thanks,
Tracy
With our EBY we have two ramps in it. One ramp in the back and the other ramp on the side. The trailer is a 4 horse head to head with a large center area which can be a boxstall if needed. The trailer can easily be converted into 3 boxstall if needed.
Thanks, Cindi--
Wasn't familiar with that kind of trailer...when I read your shipper profile. Will let you know soon if the pick-up range of dates will work. Please update me, if you can, if the pick-up date gets more defined.
Thanks,
Tracy
I will be happy to keep you posted on the dates. If the bid should expire, please ask for a rebid. Also we do post every night on Uship where we are so tou can see how far we have traveled for the day. I will have a much better idea on the dates once we are on the road in Nov.

Do let me know when you get a pick up nailed down....I have an informal bid of $800 but the haul is not for certain yet....I do want to see what your plan is when you get it set
Know you'll know more next week.
Thanks,
Tracy
Right now, as it stands, I plan on leaving No NH on the 15th of Nov to head back out west since I would like to have "turkey" with my family. I will keep you posted on the time frame.
Thanks, Cindi, for the update. That still works for me; will let you know if I get a trip sooner, as that would be my deciding factor. The prices are all close enough.
Tracy
Thank you for letting me know. Have a wonderful haunted halloween.
