Questions for this shipment:

Question: do you think it could be strapped atop a GMC suburban? (9/28/2009)
Response: I think so- no problem if you tie it off properly. It's an Grumman, pretty indestructable. I am not sure about the sail situation, but chances are that could lie alongside the canoe on the roof. I will try and get pictures, talk more in detail with the current owner. (9/28/2009)
Question: Aluminum Grumman canoes are the best as far as I am concerned. I don't think they are on the market anymore -- just the fiberglass types. I have a stock rack on top of my SUburban . I am going to measure the vehicle's length. Will you provide strapping? If you don't provide it, that could be a substantial expense for me. (9/28/2009)
Response: As for your question: Yes, we can provide strapping. I have transported many canoes on top of my many small cars, and length is not so much of an issue. You tie off the front of the canoe to the front bumper, and the back to the back bumper with regular sturdy ropes using proper knots. If the canoe overhangs, it's ok -- the only issue is visiblity. (In fact, all canoes I have ever transported have been longer than my car). Then, you strap the middle using two parallel, but separate separate straps to the rack. When I had a Mazda 323, I used to open the doors and strap one through the front doors, and one through the back doors. Again, making sure everything is twang tight but doesn't hurt the canoe or car. You can put folded towels under any part of the canoe or rope that touches the car so it doesn't hurt the paint. (9/29/2009)
