Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hi, I might well be able to do this for you this coming monday or Tuesday. My supersized van can handle that weight on it, no problem and I do have a lift. I also just happen to be going to Richmond so it could be perfect. But, What is a monster exactly? I'll need to know the dimensions and specific content of your shipment before I accept. Please respond ASAP. Izzy (12/4/2004)
Response: Hi there -- thanks for responding to my posting! The "monster" is a 900 lb floor safe (23"x23"x33") w/rollers. It's not terribly valuable (nothing in it by the way) except to me -- as a gift to my husband. Your timing sounds terrific -- can you give me an idea what you would expect by way of compensation? Thanks again! k (12/4/2004)
Question: OK. Perfect. I'm just glad to hear that it's not actually a "900 pound monster". The last thing I need is some 2 headed escapee from the Island of Dr. Moreau in my van! The offer price you set was $400 so that's what I was banking on. Plus it sounds fair for that size and distance so I hope that's still OK. BTW I'm not bonded nor can I pffer insurance past my normal auto insurance. I can provide blankets and I do have a lift on the van, but it will be just me and the van so if extra manpower is needed on either side (which I assume it will be) I'll need you to help with that. Overall, it sounds good to me so I will officially accept now. When you reciprocate, U-ship will allow us to speak on the phone. Thanks! Izzy (12/4/2004)
Response: Hi Izzy: Thanks for your note. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you -- I've been flooded w/e-mails about this and am finally trying to sort thru them. You're headed down Monday or Tuesday of this coming week? I'm worried that's too early ('cause where in the world would I hide this thing for three weeks?). Do you do that route routinely or is this a unique trip (e.g. could you do it any other time in the next 2-3 weeks)? Let me know and I'll figure out how to wrestle w/the monster. regards, katherine (12/4/2004)

Question: Hi Katherine. Saddly no, I do not do that trip routinely. I just happen to be doing it next week which make the timing a bit unflexible. It looks like what I could do right now is pick it up on Tuesday and then bring it down on Wednesday. I do check U-ship fairly frequently and if something were to come up later this month, I could theoretically do it later but as it is a budding website, I don't think that's very likely. On top of which, Vermont is one of the leasy likely destinations and (without trying to be manipulative) I don't think it's very likley that you'll find someone else on U-ship who will be in that area anytime soon especialy not with a vehicle equiped to move such a "Monster". If you were offering 3x the money you are, I'd gladly make a dedicated trip for you whenever you want, otherwise, it's really got to be Tues/Wed. I suggest you get a big old pile of leaves and leave the safe covered with them out side your home. Then do your best to discourage your hubby from (12/5/2004)
Question: Hey Katherine, forgive me for being impatient but there is a better chance than not that I will have to leave for VT tonight. If I do, internet access won't be so convenient for me and I will have to plan around not getting your safe. I will be around for the rest of the day and will check my e-mail. If you accept, U-ship will let us exchange telephone #s and we can figure out the details. My phone will work wherever I am. Izzy (12/6/2004)
Response: Hi there -- finally figured out how to "accept". Great system here! I've contacted the current owners of the safe who say they can be a some help loading it in your truck -- as long as you arrive after 4:30 or so. I've also asked them if they can recruit anyone else to help. No answer yet. (12/6/2004)
Question: Excellent. Thanks for the accept. I just tried calling you but you didn't pick up. I left my phone # on your voicemail. I need contact info and an exact address for the pick-up. Please call as soon as you can. Thanks again Katherine! Izzy (12/6/2004)
