Question: Is this a wood boat? (4/20/2008)

Response: Yes it is. We are currently in the process of having the marine survey done in and out of the water to verify the integrity of the hull. (4/20/2008)

Response: This load will require special handling but not a load we would do. Perhaps a service with an air ride trailer for the softest possible ride. Be sure to inspect your keel inside the boat from front to back which is usually the first area to fail. I've seen wood hulls like these collapse when loaded on the trailer. Also a hauler may require a waiver of respectability/liability for unknown condition of the hull. If you are not familiar, wood boat hulls dry out and will leak and need to be watched closely when launched again. Have a main pump and a backup automatic pump with it's own separate power source until the wood swells and tightens up. My best to you, Tom (4/20/2008)

Response: Tom,, thank you for the info. Do you know of any companies that you think would take on this job and that you would recommend? Please let us know. We would like to try and get the boat from Oklahoma to Illinois within the next 14-45 days depending on if we can get someone with experience with wood hulls to actually do it. In your experience, would we be able to bring the boat in one piece as opposed to having the fly bridge completely removed? (even at a higher cost) If not, do you recommend anyone that can remove and then replace the fly bridge. Your expertise and assistance is appreciated.
Effie (4/20/2008)

Question: While out of the water, please get a good measurement from the keel to the highest point and I will bid. Looks like you would want to avoid removal of the bridge at all costs. Thanks, Mike - Century Maritime (4/20/2008)

Response: Mike,
Would you also be able to quote us as to how much it would cost if we have to remove the fly bridge and what it would cost to re-assemble?
Thanks and I look forward to speaking/doing business with you soon.
Effie (4/20/2008)

Response: I would have to see the boat to be able to give an estimate for removal of the fly bridge. Really need to start with a good measurement. Thanks, Mike (4/20/2008)

Response: Mike,
As soon as we have the measurements we will let you know. How else can I get you better measurements for the removal of the fly bridge? It would be nice to know what our options are with/without the removal.
We will need to get back out to Oklahoma sometime in the next couple of weeks and I will provide you with as much information as possible at that time.
Effie (4/21/2008)

Response: You can measure just the bridge to see how much we can lower it. Just to let you know, I have a boat yard on Table Rock Lake where we work on large wood boats about an hour and a half from Disney. I think I might know where your boat is. Would it be ok for me to go look at it? Better yet, when is it going to be out of the water? Thanks, Mike (4/21/2008)

Response: Mike,
If you can get out to see the boat, that would be great. We are still trying to coordinate the survey, the haul out as well as airline tickets to Oklahoma. It might be easier for you to stop by and actually see the boat if you are around that area. Then, perhaps you can give us a better idea of what the cost would be to remove and re-install the fly bridge. The boat is currently located at Clearwater Bay Marina in Disney. Please let us know if/when you make it out there.
Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.
Effie (4/21/2008)

Response: Would like to see it out of the water. Please advise as to when. Thanks, Mike (4/22/2008)

Response: Mike, we are still trying to coordinate getting out to Oklahoma. As soon as we do we will let you know. We were trying to coordinate the haul out, survey and the transporter all around the same time to save some time/money on the re-launch and haul out again at a later time. Especially since we need to fly out again for the survey as well as to prep the boat for Chicago. My husband and I would like to be there for all of it and it has been a bit trying for the two of us to get away from work at the same time(not to mention we have a 2 yr old)that we need to make arrangements for. (4/22/2008)

Response: Will wait for an update. Thanks, Mike (4/23/2008)

Response: Thanks. (4/23/2008)

Response: no problem (4/24/2008)

Response: We'll talk soon. (4/26/2008)

Response: I'm probably going over to Grove in the morning, so I will try to get to Clearwater Bay. Mike (4/27/2008)

Response: Hi Mike. Were you able to make it out to Clearwater Bay Marina today? Please let me know.
Thanks.
Effie (4/28/2008)

Response: Actually no, I had to delay 'til tomorrow. Sorry, Mike (4/28/2008)

Response: Thanks Mike. Hope to hear from you tomorrow sometime. (4/28/2008)

Response: Looked at your boat. Big deal to remove top, bigger deal to transport with top on. Suggest transporting to closest navigable river port then on her own bottom. Please advise as to status. Thanks, Mike (4/29/2008)

Response: Mike,
I spoke to Phillip and he stated that we are waiting for some quotes from you to transport via waterway as well as a checklist of things needed in order to transport safely (mechanically as well as electrically).
Will you be able to get this information to us?
Please let us know.
Thanks.
Effie (4/30/2008)

Question: Thanks,I am not available for some time.If the states will permit it it will require much routing and a height pole escort and a follow escort and possibly line crews, depending on route. But I will tell you this I do not think they will allow you to transport it to that area w/o removing the top.A very expensive move 8.00+ to 12.00+ a mile if even possible to permit at that height.tduncan55 (4/20/2008)

Response: Tom,
First of all thank you for getting back to us. You were recommended to us by the Chris Craft Antique Boat club and I was very happy to see that you responded to our request. Do you have anyone that you know and trust that you could recommend for the removal of the fly bridge? We are very flexible on when we need to move the boat. The biggest thing right now is coordinating a trip to Oklahoma from Chicago to prepare the boat, line up the appropriate people to remove the fly bridge if this is the only way we could get it to Chicago and then find and set the date with the transport company. (hopefully with you)
Thanks.
Effie (4/21/2008)

Response: There is a guy who works out of Driscolls Marina named Jeff who flys out to remove and package and meets the boat and puts it back together But he is very expensive even on regular bridges.(3000.00 1500 up front,1500.00 at completion+air fare and all expenses).I have lost his card but Joe Driscoll may help.I would suggest checking locally. You know of course what is involved in removing ones like yours.Sometimes they are braced and just cut off. Thanks,I hope this helps.tduncan55 (4/21/2008)

Response: Tom,
Thank you for the information. We will follow up with Joe Driscoll. If we can get this guy Jeff to remove it, would you still be interested in quoting us for the transport to Chicago?
Please let us know.
Thanks. (4/21/2008)

Response: Looks like I can't get that info to you.Uship is looking it over.I would suggest checking locally. The guy I know flys out and charges much $$$$$ and expenses.I would think by looking at yours it shouldn't be too much involved by someone with some experience.Bracing at removal is the most important.I can't do it .Thanks..tduncan55 (4/21/2008)

Response: It was odd but I received this note from you as well. Thanks again for the information. I guess we need to contact Jeff and see where we stand. It will then be easier to get quotes I assume? (4/21/2008)

Response: It will mean Thousands $$$$....Uship approved the message...good of them to help.Make the arrangements for height reduction and let me know exact sizes afterwards and I will try to make a good offer IF I become available in your timeframe...tduncan55 (4/22/2008)

Response: Thanks Tom.. Will let you know what we find out. (4/22/2008)

Question: Thanks for the bid request. When are you looking to have this boat moved? The top will have to come off. My insurance does not cover us to work on boats just transport them. Thanks, Cliff - BCR Transport, LLC. (4/21/2008)

Response: Cliff,
We are looking to move the boat anytime in the next 14-45 days (we are flexible)depending on finding someone to transport it to Chicago and for us/coordinating a trip from Chicago to Oklahoma to prepare the boat for shipment, etc. Do you have anyone that you could recommend that could quote us on removing the fly bridge? It seems to be that this is another thing we will need to work out prior to the transport. Please let us know.
Thanks.
Effie (4/21/2008)

Response: Sorry, I don't know anybody that can disassemble the bridge in OK. I will enter a bid after I check our schedule. Thanks, Cliff - BCR Tranpsort, LLC. (4/21/2008)

Response: Cliff,
Any updates on your schedule? Please let us know.
Effie (4/22/2008)

Question: Hello Phil, any luck yet? Nick EMI (4/22/2008)

Response: Nick,
Hi. This is Effie (Phil's wife). We are still in the process of trying to get bids as well as names of people that could actually remove the fly bridge since everyone is stating will most likely have to take place. It is very slow moving at this point as everyone wants exact height from keel to highest point but we cannot give an actual number until the boat is out of the water.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Please let me know and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Effie (4/22/2008)

Response: Hello Phil and Effie,I will try to find the over height shipper I used and let you know (4/22/2008)

Response: Nick,
Thanks. We are looking forward to your response.
Effie (4/22/2008)

Response: Hey guys, any Luck yet? Nick (6/11/2008)

Response: Nick. No. :( (6/11/2008)

Response: I found the info on the guy that did that move for me that I told you about, Im sure he can get it moved for you, thanks Nick (6/11/2008)

Response: perfect, please let us know. (6/11/2008)

Response: I cant put #'s on here, do you still have the info Wally gave you? (6/11/2008)

Response: Who is Wally? (6/12/2008)

Response: Wally's Marina, Thanks Nick EMI Transport (6/12/2008)

Question: I just realized something by looking at your picture. If it was removed it will not fit on the same truck. This could be another troublesome area to consider. At 53'long there would be no room to put it where it will be low enough.....tduncan55 (4/22/2008)

Response: Yes we realized that as well. This is turning out to be quite the project! (4/22/2008)

Response: It is just a bit into the very difficult....It is going to be costly but there is equipment that can help.Stretch trailer with 3 axles is ideal.I wish you well on it.tduncan55 (4/22/2008)

Response: Out of curiousity-when is your schedule open? It may just take us months to get this resloved the way things are going. (4/22/2008)

Response: I will be empty in Wa state after the 1st week of June.I would have to load south again probally thru Ca to get back to the area.My guess Mid June.If this is removed I can obtain a follow truck for the top.I called my permit providers & IL cuts it off at 16'.They would be difficult to convince that it can't be reduced in height.Stay in touch tduncan55 (4/23/2008)

Response: Hi Tom,
Could you answer a basic but important question in how to measure the height of the boat accurately? Is it from the very top of the hardtop to the bottom of the inside of the hull or do we have to measure outside the bottom to the bottom of the keel? I am hearing more than one way. What do you need to have a good number since obviously you know which two points of reference are needed for calculating maximum distance for loading and travel height clearance.
Thanks! (4/23/2008)

Response: Most definitly you want to the bottom of the keel. The boat has some weight to it which helps lower the air ride equipment not giving up too much air ride.Easily removed items on top need not be counted in that it makes sense to remove them to reduce to most practical height.A stretch type trailer stretches out to get the whole boat into the well area and sometimes as low as 6" from ground level. This is where the 3rd axle comes in,weight distribution,Your top is so far along the entire length as to cause a higher ride over the trailer axles.I beleive I have a picture in my profile at uship with a Constellation loaded on my trailer.Hope this helps...tduncan55 (4/23/2008)

Response: Thanks Tom. (4/26/2008)

Question: Check around before deciding. It can be done with it intact,it looks like it is going to be very costly either way.A stretch trailer might get it down to <17'.It could be done...I am glad I am not in the decision making seat on this one.tduncan55 (4/22/2008)

Response: If it costs the same either way, we would obviously choose to leave the hardtop intact. But, then again, we will see what everyone says. It is becoming difficult to find someone that can handle this job. (4/22/2008)

Question: Dear sir or madam, This boat can be shipped with out removal of the flybridge. It will be an expensive move but possible. Yes the gentleman above was correct on the wooden hull also if the boat is sealed shrink wrapped it can retain some of the moisture the hull has absorbed over time with less dry out the hull boards will have a better chance not to shrink. We can move this intact for around $8-9000 but need to see the boat for a better cost estimate. (5/21/2008)

Response: How can I get a better estimate? The boat is in Oklahoma. Are you near Oklahoma to actually see the boat? I am not allowed to list an actual address as I was just flagged for that recently. Any suggestions? (5/22/2008)

Response: Take down the posting for now, We will be in touch with the PU location. You can repost this if we cant get to it but there is no reason we cant. I will send someone down to Disney to have a look. (5/22/2008)
