Hello Captain Fred,
Does your bid include fuel and your transportation to and from delivery?
Thanks,
Linda
Linda: Yes it does, I'm an excellent Captain and trying to build up my business by offering very competitive rates. Looking forward to working with you. Capt Fred (zrgq014)
Hi Fred,
I don't want to violate the ushipit terms but do you have any references? Have you transported a vessel from Northern to Southern California before?
Are you in southern California now? We are doing the final sea trial in our boat next Friday in Mission Bay in San Diego.
Linda
I wish Uship would allow me to provide references but they don't. My references would provide very positive feedback. I truly aim to exceed your expectations. I have not yet delivered a boat to northern CA but I have been on boats up to Monterey Bay and feel very comfortable in making this delivery. I have studied the charts, read coast pilot and have a portable GPS and all the electronic charts. I also have a weather router service. I'm in LA and very familiar with Mission Bay.
Could you leave on Jan. 22 if we decided to go with you? Also I talked to my insurance broker. I would need your references and captain cert. to insure the trip because the policy I am buying only covers San Fran. Bay and Delta.
Linda: Yes I can leave on Jan 22. My Capt's license is 1211115, 100 tons inland and Master of motor vessel 50 tons near coastal. There should be no issues with getting the insurance coverage. I have got over twenty years of experience with my Capt's License on vessels of similar size to your, thousands of days on the water and no insurance claims or Coast Guard violations. I can provide references and contact information once the fee is paid to Uship. I have tried to provide contact info to another client and got busted, Uship is real strict on this issue. Looking forward to working with you. Capt Fred
Okay...can you still go Jan 22? To clarify once more that you will buy the gas and pay for your own transportation? My husband will go with you.
The boat has been hauled and checked out by mechanics and surveyors. We just bought it.
Linda
Hi Linda: Congrats!, Yes the bid includes gas and my transportation back. I can go Jan 22. Capt Fred
Hi Captain Fred,
There is about 200 gallons in the boat now. It is estimated to take 633 gallons for the trip. Are you planning on filling the boat up before you and Forest (my husband) leave on Sunday? There is no Diesel at the final destination so we would prefer you pay for the first tank and leave 200 gallons at the end of the trip. Are you okay with this?Sorry for all the questions we are rookies (-: Forest will fly in Sunday from the Bay Area. How many days do you estimate the trip to take? Forest needs to work the 27th. If you have not completed the trip I will come meet you with someone from our yacht club. I am the commodore in Petaluma.
Linda
Linda: I'am ok with leaving the boat with 200 gallon, I would normally do it the other way (start full and end full) but I will do my best to estimate leaving 200 gallons at the end of the trip. If the weather gives us 5 days then we should be in SF on Thursday providing we can travel at nighttime. If not I see no problem in meeting you somewhere up the coast.
Good Morning
All sounds good. I am in San Diego right now and heading home tonight. It looks like the boat will be berthed in Petaluma for a while. It is about 2 hours further. Forest knows the way. The last chance for fuel is San Rafael. It should work out well with fuel because our tank is 430 gallons. So if you were stop in Half Moon Bay before the trip to the San Francisco Bay you will be at half when you get to San Rafael and the fueling would be on us.
Are you Okay with Petaluma? We could drop you in San Rafael but it might be more easier to be able to stay on the boat a day or so until you get a flight or train home.
Linda
Linda: That should work out fine, my plan was to fly back from SFO, If transportation from Petaluma is available and about the same price as from from San Rafael then should be no problem. Fueling in San Rafael is OK. Capt Fred
Great...I will be booking the bid. You should fly back from Oakland (usually less expensive) unless you are going to make a trip of it and hang out in San Francisco for the weekend.
Linda
Linda: Thanks for the info. One thing to think of is to have several fuel filters on your boat. Diesel fuel is prone to growing algae and clogging filters. If the boat has been sitting for a while I highly recommend spare filters. Once you book the trip we will be able to talk on the phone. Capt Fred
I will be booking a little later and we can talk on the phone. Forest will be flying from Oakland to San Diego on the 22 he should be to the boat by 9:30 or 10. We are getting everything ready to today so it is set to shove off. Mostly safety equipment need updating and mast light repair.
Linda
Great, I need to run out for a while, will start to plan my arrangements. Capt Fred
I have to hold off until Monday afternoon to give a definite yes...85% it's a yes. Husband is having a hard time getting time off. We just left the boat. It is ready to go. The mechanic will be there next week to do valve adjustment, change belts and check pulleys.
Linda: OK, it is great that you are having a mechanic go over the engines. Capt Fred
Okay...its a definite go. Please confirm on your end. Really can't afford to lose money on getting credited for a cancellation. You ready to giddy up and go Sunday morning :-)
Linda: I'm ready to giddy up and go. Capt Fred
