Questions for this shipment:
Question:
you do know by puting this on a flat bed you are making it an oversized load because of the height thanks jk (5/8/2006)
Response:
yes (5/8/2006)
Question:
Hi, I can do this for you for $2700. I am also capable of making your trailer road worthy if it needs to be maintenanced, or repaired. I understand you preferred to have it placed on a flat bed, I am just offering options. I am new to uship, but not new to shipping. I have 30 years experience shipping. I also Have verifiable feed back on ebay, user name qnxcool. I will treat your shipment as if it was mine, and provide fast professional service. Let me know if you are interested and I will bid. Thanks, Brian (5/10/2006)
Response:
Please bid if you are interested - the trailer needed an updated license sticker - which I just received and will overnight to teh marina. The only concern I had about using the trailer is the tires - the trailer hasn't been used hardly at all over the last 2 years, and I wasn't sure if the tires could stand a trip this long and there are no spares. (5/10/2006)
Question:
Hi, I understand your concern about the trailer. As I would have the same concerns. Do you know the history of the trailer, if you do then things like the age of the tires and if the bearings have been repacked are important info. I am a retired professional mechanic who has hauled loads for 30 years. I can offer you a service to upon arrival evaluate the trailer, and tires. A spare tire is inexpensive, I should have one that will work. I normally carry extras in case a customers trailer has a flat. I would be sure that at least one spare tire was onboard before departing with the trailer. The next item to look at is the bearings, then the wiring-lights. If any of these items need attention, I am qualified and capable to perform these tasks even if a problem occurs in route. I will provide any trailer services at a VERY small fee. Believe me that would rather not work on the trailer unless absolutely necessary, for transportation of the boat. That being said, I would not hesitate to pe (5/11/2006)
Question:
It cut me off here is the other.......................perform any maintenance or repairs necessary (with your blessings) that would be necessary for a safe trip. If you are not going to use the trailer in the future, you may consider selling it to recoup some of your transport costs, and a road worthy trailer just looked over by a pro is worth more $$$. Think about it and let me know what you decide. If you decide to have me transport this boat, I will provide excellent professional service, and care for it as if it was my own. (5/11/2006)
Question:
Hi, sail boats of this size can rarely be loaded or unloaded using the ramp at a marina unless there is a ultra long trailer available. So it would be realistic to count on crane loading on each end. On boats like this I have been purchasing individual policy’s for each boat, and offering insurance to the shipper at my additional cost, which depends on your declared value. However I have found that if the boat owner currently has a good insurance policy on the boat the owners policy will cover the boat in transit. This saves both of us money, while still protecting your investment. Delivery time will be relatively fast, my estimate is 3 to 7 days. I am based about 200 miles north of Austin, and I am in Texas now. Let me know what you think, and if you would like for me to move this boat for you for the $2500 quoted. (5/12/2006)
