Additional Information: This is a 26' Macgregor sailboat, model 26M. The mast folds down flat.When folded down, the high of the boat is 10'. The factory says that when they ship a Macgregor, they REMOVE the mast and secure it to the trailer. If the mast is removed in this fashion, the height of the boat is only 8'. If trailered behind a truck, the truck should have mud flaps to protect the boat. The keel completely retracts INSIDE the boat. The boat is designed to be LEGALLY trailerable behind even medium size cars. The weight noted above is the BOAT WEIGHT only. The sails and other equipment INSIDE the boat might add another 1000 lbs to the shipping weight. The factory trailer weighs 750lbs

Response: Part 2 of answer!-----I have an idea that might work to help you on this trip: my parents are selling their home in McLean,VA...& Mom has some furniture that she wants to give us.Maybe you could pick up the furniture in VA, then go get the boat and bring everything to Napa...I don't know if this would help !There is a long,low dresser w/ 2 mirrors,a dresser, a king headboard,glass top table w/ 6 chairs, 2 small chairs, 1 lamp,glass bowl w/11 cups, 2 toy wooden stables (mine when I was 10!),1 small desk w/mirror, 2 sets silverware for 6 and 30"x24" picture. I have pictures and measurements. She has $750 to move the furniture. My parents are elderly and not well,and cannot help move the furniture or wrap the punchbowl, etc.If this might help, I'll post the shipment on uship for a bid...--Susan (3/28/2007)
