Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hi Grant, I might be able to help with this. I have some wide-plank flooring to deliver to the Seattle area. I am based in Lake Orion, MI and have an F-350 crew cab and a brand new Silverado 2500 HD crew cab. Both diesels. If I can't do it, maybe the person who does can haul the flooring for me?? Just wondering outloud. :-) Did you have a target price in mind? (3/23/2008)
Response: $1400.00 is my target. It's the break even number on this trailer. I don't think in terms of profit anymore. How much wood do you have and what are you paying? Keep in mind that I can't have a forklift driving in and out of my brand new trailer,so consider the loading and unloading logistics. A car would be so much easier for whoever hauls it,really. Throw out a number and see if it gets anyones attention.. (3/23/2008)
Response: Hi, I totally understand the need to keep the trailer in pristine condition. I would just hand load and unload it. I would likely want to take around 2,000 sq ft which I would rebundle inside (4 ft wide x 16 ft long x 2 ft tall) It would weigh about 3600 lbs. At this point I might try to arrange to do this myself and try to get a backhaul. I would do it for your target if I was able to take the flooring with me. I'm heading to FL today for a little vacation. Hopefully I'll have some email access. I'll be back home in MI next Sunday night. What would be the ideal timeframe for you? ASAP? within 2 weeks? other? Thanks. Rick (3/23/2008)
Response: ASAP. These are trailers that my customers are waiting for. I have 5 trailers sitting there right now that would handle that load if you were careful with the trailer. For future reference,I could pretty much always get you a trailer to use. I almost always have a carhauler sitting there. When my backlog is cleaned up and when and if I have my own truck, trailer and driver going, the ammount I'd pay would be lower on a single haul,(that supply and demand thing)but still could be worth your while. Or,we could have our driver load it in a trailer and throw it on our wedge to deliver it on this end. We can probably work something. I want to stay in business with Atlas. They make a good trailer and I will look at anything to offset my shipping costs. (3/23/2008)
Question: BTW If this works out, and you do this fairly regularly, this could lead to other similar trips in the future. I get alot of demand for this flooring out west but shipping ends up being the deal-breaker. We'll see.... (3/23/2008)
Response: See above. Thanks. Keep me posted. I know all about shipping costs being a deal breaker. Grant (3/23/2008)
Question: Grant, happy Easter, Ron here. I'm going to put a bid in at 1400 again. This is to get my foot in the door with you. It doesn't matter to me what I need to get to haul the equiptment you need hauled. I do this to kill time and have something to do. Yes I have to make a little money out of it but we are NOT in this to get rich. I love driving, my wife loves seeing the country, and we help people such as yourself by hauling at a cheaper rate than anyone else. If you are interested in us, accept the bid, we wont hold you to a dollar amount if your not happy with the 1400 just like you said you wouldn't hold me to anything. But this writing back and forth is too much and nothing is getting accomplished. I'm offering you me, my company, and my equiptment. I think it's your move. Thanks, Ron (3/23/2008)
Response: HUH (4/2/2008)
Question: how many trailers do you have we may be able to help you out we have a 40 foot flatbed and we can load these on with no problems at all please let us know your thoughts and we will help you get these to your customers. We would rather meet in blaine,wa i hope that works for you (4/13/2008)
Response: The 25 and the 21 won't fit on your deck, but I could do the 21 and a 16 if the price is right. These are both overheight trailers. 9 ft. 6 inches. Can you haul them? How would we unload them? You have ramps of some sort? They will be forked on at Atlas, but getting them off is another story. We could use a forklift up here but,we have no facilities down in Blaine. We don't mind grabbing the trailers down there if we can get them off. Let me know. Grant. (4/13/2008)
Response: we can handle up to 42 feet of trailers not including the hitches. we have hauled out of atlas before we can haul them on our flatbed and for both trailers we would charge 1.80 per mile please let us know your thoughts and we will help we can winch them off with ramps wherever we want to unload (4/13/2008)
Response: For 37 ft. of trailers,I'd be willing to pay a $1.25. You could throw the sled trailer at the back of your rig and probably get a couple of ATVs or bikes loaded into it. I've got a bike you can have if you want right along I 94. $400 more to you. As long as you kept the trailer clean and got it to Blaine by the 19th. We pay cash. I'm going to delete these and relist them with book it nows. (4/13/2008)
