Question: Have you decided on the total no. of elk you will be sending? I can haul 25, 550 lbers. for $1100 some time this week if that would work for you. Have hauled alot of cattle and horse around the midwest, but never elk. I have helped a friend work his elk, but never hauled them. My trailer is 26x8 and have hauled 25, 500 to 600 lb. steers before. If this will help you out let me know. Thanks (8/24/2009)
Response: There's going to be 1 load of 25. I looked at your pictures and I just can't see 25 elk cows fitting on that trailer. Do you have a different trailer? (8/25/2009)
Response: If they average 550lbs. they should fit comfortably, the 8ft. width makes quite a differance. I know I can load the same head on my 26x8 as a friend can on his 30x7. I had 25 steers that averaged that weight loaded easily and cow elk would be about the same frame as those steers. Although if you have any doubt you'd be better to hire a bigger trailer.
