Question: Hello shipper we can offer to transport your boat door to door for you direct freight for $1790.00 We are a boat shipper and the equipment we use to ship boats is only used to ship boats. All boats we ship are covered by insurance and we have not had a claim in over 300 successful shipments. We only use custom built cradles to carry the boats we ship. This puts the weight of the boat along the entire hull as opposed to just a few jack points of contact. We usually ship large yachts and high value boats but also offer small boat shipments. Response: Thank you for your reply. Does the quoted price also include the mast and the outboard engine?
Also, my employer in Cleveland will most likely pay the shipping costs, as long as I am able to provide them with 3 quotes. Are you able to provide a written quote, and also possibly facilitate two other quotes (which would be higher than yours)? I apologize for the process, it is the only way I am likely to get the move paid for.
Thanks for your reply.

Response: Yes we can take care of the other items outboard and mast. Im sure I can find 2 quotes higher. Im not the cheapest shipper just one of the best. so I do know a few companies that dont primarily move boats so there quotes are higher. (5/13/2008)

Response: Ok, that's good.
I'm new to this web site so I don't really know how we proceed. I'm a little concerned that you have no feedback, so I don't quite know how to "check your references". I assume you have a standard bill of lading or some regular contract and are not just some guy with a truck and trailer, right?
If I can't get my employer to pay, I will probably borrow a trailer and pull the thing myself, so the three quotes are critical. If that is something you can get to me either electronically or via fax, I can submit them and yours would be approved and we can proceed.
In terms of schedule, I don't have a new marina selected yet, and actually the boat isn't ready to be moved for another week or more. I expect the pick up would be on May 31, if that works for you, and assuming I have the approval from my employer.
Thanks,
Mike (5/13/2008)

Response: No we are not "some guy with a truck" we are scheduled to move 5 boats this week all over 32' ft in length. We actually only call a boat something under 30' we specialize in YACHTS over 32' Tis division only ships boats. including a 47 Fountain and 41 sea ray both leaving Florida in about a week. thanks again. We will submit a bid in a few days as time gets closer and collect the 2 other quotes for you in the meantime. Yes we have a BOL and contract for all of our customers to go over and sign prior to shipping. (5/13/2008)

Response: Sorry for the negative implication - I have ended up weeding through some kinda amateurish seeming quotes, and I am mostly uncertain as to how this proceeds. I did find your pictures since sending the last message and it does seem as if my boat is much smaller than what you are accustomed to handling.
If you are able to get the quotes (both yours and then 2 others) that I can submit for approval and payment, we can proceed, and I will be able to stop entertaining other quotes.
Thank you,
Mike (5/13/2008)

Question: How soon are you ready to go? I have a truck heading in your direction and I can give you a back haul price. (5/14/2008)

Response: I'm going to be a little complicated (at least in my mind).
1. I still have work to do on the keel, either here or in Cleveland.
2. I don't have a marina selected in Cleveland.
3. I can get the move reimbursed by my employer if I have your quote and 2 others (which should be higher than yours) to submit.
If you can handle the quotes, and I can find a marina that will stick the boat on stands for me until I can finish the work, I could be ready to go nearly immediately. Otherwise, for me to finish the work and find a marina that will just stick it at a slip, probably by May 24.
I hope that makes sense - let me know if you need any other information. Also, the outboard and mast would need to go as well - the mast is currently stored next to the boat, and the motor is nearby as well.
Thanks very much for your response.

Question: DID YOU GET MY RESPOSE RJL33 (5/16/2008)

Response: I did, thanks.
I don't have a frame or rig to hold the mast on the boat. Can one be made easily?
My apologies for the difficulty - I have never moved the boat out of the marina, in fact I think it has been in the marina for 20+ years, so this is very new for me, and the boat as well.
