Additional Information: I have enough items to fill a 20ft container. I'm looking for a door to door service without uploading and off loading, I prefer to do this myself at both ends. Need someone with customs experience. Need transport of container from port in Italy to Sarzana. Report a Violation

Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hello Shipper, we can pickup all your goods, package and palletize everything and have it shipped via ocean to Italy Port to be picked by consignee after it clears customs for a flat fee of $2200. My business is only 10 minutes away from Long Beach. Kind regards, PACKAGING STORE IN CERRITOS, CA. (4/13/2008)
Response: Thanks for responding, but I indicated that I wanted to pack myself. I am looking for a company that can place a 20ft. container at my location in Long Beach,CA for me to load then ship it to my home in Sarzan, Italy for me to unload. I need a company that will handle customs for me (all personal goods). I will be happy to accept quotes on this service. Thanks, Alan Holdich (4/14/2008)
Question: i can ship a 20' container door to port for you and the agent oversea can arrange delivery for you as well a clear it. (4/14/2008)
Response: Thank you, I would like to know the total cost including the agent fee in Italy as well as trucking from port in Italy to my home. All personal goods. Alan (4/16/2008)
Response: i do not have those prices, i let the customes agent overseas handle that at the customers request, (4/16/2008)
Question: Good Day, a couple of questions. 1). Your Zip code 2). We assume that you want the 20' dropped at your residence, is it legal to drop unit on the street or will it be an off street location, how many days do you require to load. Thank you, Spiro (4/16/2008)
Response: Dear Spiro, 90807 is the zip of where I will load the container and there is street parking there, it's a industrial zone. I believe 24 hours in enough time to load. Thanks, Alan (4/16/2008)
Response: Good Day, Alan, The bid should , of course, say ocean. I am in the process of getting the customs costs in La Spezia and I had to put an expiration date but I think that I can hold on to the rate for a bit past 5/17. Whne do you expect to make the move? We will bring empty 20' to your door and drop it there for 1 day, as required, and then pck it up for the shipment to Sarzana, Italy. Once this process is complete we will of course need your full informtion i.e. your full address, SS#, full address at Sarzana, contact, telephone number, piece count, value and weight. Don't do naything at the moment until all is in place and you have decided what you want to do. Have a great day, Spiro (4/17/2008)
Response: Dear Spiro, Hope my other emails don't confuse you, I'm not used to using U-ship website. I am leaving on July 1 and obviously need to have this container on it's way well before that. I am thinking mid June. Once you have a final quote including customs I'll review it and made a firm decision. I have a side question however, the contents are all household goods, personal items etc....is it common to pay duty in Italy for such items? Thanks for your help thus far, looking forward to hearing more from you soon. Alan Holdich (4/23/2008)
Response: Good Day!!! Alan, I will check with my people and get back to you. Italy is in the "domani" frame of mind and so they are busy eating and having a good time. I will get an answer for you. Thanks, Spiro (4/24/2008)
Question: Good Day, Alan here is the information you requested. Custom entry & clearance range between 120 - 200 Euro. Duty & tax will be levied at about 25% of the declared value. I do not know if this would be your situation but if you are an Italian citizen and returning to Ialy then the duty/tax is waived but the packing list will need a consular stamp, I hope that this helps Spiro (4/28/2008)
Response: Hi Spiro, Thanks for the information. The items I'm shipping are all personal/not for sale household items. I noted the expiration date of your bid as 5/17/08. Is the consular stamp something I need to obtain for you? Or do I get it from the Italian Consulate here in LA? Alan (5/2/2008)
Response: Good Day, If you are an Italian citizen then no duty has to be paid and your packing list must be notarized by the Italian Consul in LA. When did you want to make the move i.e. when do you want the unit brought to your location for loading, Thanks spiroJ. (5/2/2008)
Response: Spiro, I am a resident of Italy but not a citizen. I estimate being ready for the container the third week of June, about 7 weeks from now. Thanks, Alan (5/2/2008)
Response: Hello Alan, I spoke to the ocean carrier and unfortuately I will have to requote since they can only hold rate till 5/17. Due to the price of fuel many carriers are quoting month to month. I will get back to you as soon as I have the rate in place for your move for the week of June 16th. If you wish I will give you both options to Door/Sarzana and to Port/La Spezia thanks, spiroj, Jankovich & Associates (5/6/2008)
Response: Dear Spiro, I anticipated such, I just hope it's not a huge hike. There's no need to quote door to Port/La Spezia; I have to have it delivered to my home in Sarzana without question. I appreciate your efforts, look forward to hearing from you soon. Alan (5/6/2008)
Response: Thank you very much,I will get back to you. Have a great day spiroj. (5/7/2008)
Response: Spiroj, This is Alan Holdich writing about the shipment to Italy. I requested a re-bid at U-ship just so I could email you again, (I still haven't quite figured out the system with u-ship), anyway when you have the new quote that will be valid until the end of June let me know. Alan (5/21/2008)
Response: Hello, Alan I will have the rate for you by next week. You are lucky since you are only using this site once. I have to work with it on a daily basis. I have made a booking for the week of June 16th. This is how crazy things are the line wont quote until they are sure what their fuel price will be. I appreciate your support and I will be sure to get a good rate. Have a great day in sunny California. spiroj. (5/21/2008)
Response: Ok, Thanks! Alan (5/21/2008)
Question: What is the value of this shipment for Italian customs? My agent can assist for customs clearance and delivery at a much cheaper price than arranged at this end. american worldwide freight services (5/2/2008)
Response: It is entirely comprised of used houshold goods and used tools from my woodworking trade. Oh, and my canoe. It's all personal items not for resale. I suppose if the value is based on what it's worth today I'd say no more than $2000 maximum. I am anxious to hear your bid. Thanks. Alan (5/2/2008)
Response: Very good. We can discuss the value after I bid. american worldwide freight services (5/2/2008)
Question: Hello Alan, I will have an updated rate for you shortly. I will be abck to you, Regards spiroj (5/13/2008)
Response: Thanks for letting me know you're still on it. Alan (5/13/2008)
