Vehicle Information
Total Vehicles: 1
Vehicle 1: 2008 Dodge Sprinter
Width: 6 ft 8 in
Height: 8 ft 0 in
Wheel Base: 14 ft 3 in
Vehicle Runs: Yes
Convertible: No
Modified: No
Additional Information: This information is from manufacturer's paperwork: Length 273.2 inches; width 79.7 inches; body height 107.5 inches; wheelbase 170.3 inches. Curb weight is 5,862 pounds. Please realize that this vehicle is much bigger than most vans, and may need to be hauled on a lowboy trailer.
This vehicle is driveable, but we don't want to put 1,900 more miles on the vehicle. We may consider a bid for driving the vehicle for MUCH less than the target. We will consider picking up the vehicle in a nearby major city, if that saves hauling miles/fees.

Questions for this shipment:

Question: Hi, Is this ready to go now? Thanks, Bill (12/12/2008)
Response: Bill: The van is not paid for. That will take until about the 17th. We are trying to decide if it is better to drive, or have hauled. (12/12/2008)
Question: Hello Shipper,If you should change your mind about it be drivenb please let me know. Does the van have a hitch? That would help to get the price down to were we can work together I charge fig what the fuel price is per mile the going rate is 1.50 if the fuel drops so does my bid now if I can pull a boat or camper going the same dir the bid would be lower for you I have all the legal stuff to drive you van to you...Mark (12/12/2008)
Response: The very first hauling quote that I got (not UShip) was $2,235 which is about $1.17 for each of the 1905 miles. I figure driving it will put at least $500 wear on the van. The van does not now have a hitch, but I think the dealer could put one on if it saved costs. (12/12/2008)
Response: Hello Thanks for getting bck with me so soon. yes if thy could put a hitch on it would save a lot to you then I could get the price down down below the $1.00 mark depending on what I can find on the board. I'll get back with you soon let'ts see what ccomes in...Mark (12/12/2008)
Response: I have asked the dealer for a quote on a hitch. Thanks. (12/12/2008)
Question: Hello Shipper, I am in the area and can wait on shipment and load on flatbed for transit. The height is fine on my trailer. If shipment will take longer than this week before pickup I will be back in the area within 7 days. I have placed a bid for your consideration and can lower a little if it will be ready this week but will need to know as soon as possible. Thanks (12/12/2008)
Response: I will answer your question with a question: Could you inspect this vehicle for us? It is a brand new vehicle, and I don't anticipate any problem, but I feel hesitant to buy a $49,000 vehicle sight unseen. The inspection and payment are the details which must be completed. (12/12/2008)
Response: Yes, we do full inspection and take pictures at pickup and delivery. I will fax the inspection sheet after it has been signed by the me and the pickup location. Let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. (12/12/2008)
Response: I want ALL BIDDERS to know that the height and wheelbase information in the "vehicle information" section are wrong. The height (107.5 inches) and wheelbase (170.3 inches) listed in the "additional information" section are correct according to mfg specs. (12/13/2008)
Question: Another note if we can get this booked ASAP and confirmed I can save you about $150 if that will help. Thanks (12/12/2008)
Response: Phillips: I don't think we can move forward any until Monday. Don't hold up waiting for me . . . we may choose to fly, and drive this home. (12/12/2008)
Response: Not a problem if you decide please let me know and I will take care the shipment for the price of $1600 flatbed. If not enjoy the trip. Thanks for the opportunity. (12/12/2008)
Response: The van will likely ship Monday, 12/22 on a trailer. I felt compelled to respond to you so that UShip would show this question answered. (12/17/2008)
Response: I will rebid for your considereation. I will be back in the area next week and would love the opporunity to earn your business. I can transport shipment on my flatbed without a problem. Thanks (12/17/2008)
Question: I'll drive it for 1000.00 and you won't have to worry about me combining shipments. (12/12/2008)
Response: That is a pretty good price, but combining shipments is not a big worry. It seems to be the efficient thing to do. (12/12/2008)
Response: OK. Well if you don't mind then I night do that. Also are you flexible on pickup and delivery? (12/12/2008)
Response: Yes, very flexible. We could even arrange for transportation for your driver to a nearby airport, or pick up the van at the nearby origin of your next trip. (I made a previous reply to this question, but UShip quarantined it.) (12/13/2008)
Response: OK. I'll place my bid if you would like? I'll be glad to work with you on this. (12/13/2008)
Response: Sure . . . please place the bid. I have spent hours researching freight to bring home with this. Are you interested in any of the links? (12/13/2008)
Response: Yes, I'll place my bid. (12/13/2008)
Response: Did you ever place a bid? If not, don't worry now because we want it to be hauled on a trailer. (12/17/2008)
Question: Hi! Check Out My Feedback By Clicking On My Name! When Is The Earliest This Can Be Ready To Go? What Are Deadlines For Pickup And Dropoff? What Days And Hours Can Pickup And Dropoff Be Done? Does Everything Work? (Lights,Brakes,Air,Cruise,Radio,Heat/Defroster) What Engine And Transmission Does It Have? Does It Take Regular Or Premium Gas, E85 Or Diesel? Is It 2WD Or 4WD? Does It Have A Hitch And/Or Receiver? Any Cargo Or Personal Belongings? Is It Factory Stock Or Has It Been Modified Or Customized? Will It Make The Trip OK If I Drive It For You? Please Let Me Know Right Away So I Can Figure My Low Bid While I Still Have Room To Schedule You! Thanks! Dave (12/13/2008)
Response: Dave: You are very thorough. We are not sure the earliest, it will be around Wednesday the 17th and I will make sure the listing is updated, perhaps through the questions. We have no deadlines on either end, but would like to have this done by 12/27 at the latest. Pickup is at a car dealer, I suppose they have typical car dealer hours. Dropoff can be made Monday thru Saturday 8 AM to 8 PM, other times by appointment. The engine is the standard Sprinter (Mercedes) 3.0L V-6 DOHC direct diesel injection 24 valve intercooled turbo diesel engine, coupled to a 5-speed electronic sequential shift control automatic transmission with overdrive, lock-up, and rear-wheel drive. The van gets excellent fuel mileage, some say in excess of 20 miles per gallon of diesel. It does not at this moment have a hitch or receiver, though we may add one to make the trip affordable. This is a brand new stock vehicle, no cargo or personal belongings inside. We prefer trailer hauling to having van driv (12/13/2008)

I Keep A Close Eye On The Weather And Won't Risk Your Property Or My Life Driving In Unsafe Conditions Or Speeding To Make Some Arbitrary Deadline!I Am Not A Broker So I Will Be The One Driving & Protecting Your Car Not Some Unknown Third Parties! I Drive Gently For Maximum Gas Mileage!I Treat Your Vehicle Like It Was My Own!I Keep Moving When On The Road,So,If Conditions Good, I Can Get It To You Amazingly Fast!My Schedule Fills Up Fast,So Please Let Me Know Right Away If This Works For You And I'll Submit A Bid While I Still Have Room For You.Thanks!Dave (12/13/2008)
Response: Dave: Would the trailer be yours, or something that you were hauling for others? Greyhound is nearby, but only goes north or south on Interstate 15. Cheap flights may be obtained from Las Vegas, or we could meet you in Denver if we saved a lot. (12/13/2008)
Response: Thanks For Your Question!Sometimes we are able to find something light to pull along the way like a motor cycle, jet ski or small boat to save you a little money but it's totally your call. Most Often We End Up Not Towing Anything But Like To Have The Option If Something Pops Up Along The Route At Last Minute! Also, we could meet you in Denver for $699 (or with trailer $599)-same terms as above. Please let me know if this makes sense to you and I'll submit my bid while I still have an opening for you in my schedule. Thanks! Dave (12/13/2008)
Response: OK. It will be at least Monday before I will know more. (12/13/2008)
Question: Hi,I found the question.I was looking for a name at the end and that is why I did not find it.I'llbid on it.Grizzle (12/13/2008)
Response: . . . and thanks for the bid! (12/17/2008)
Question: I'm leaving for Vegas around 12/22 and could haul your van all the way for $1,200, delivery before Chrismas. Why put miles on it? I'm fully DOT compliant, some of the other bidders are not. Don't jeopardize your van with non DOT carriers. If you like the bid and the timeframe, let me know and I'll submit the bid. Thanks. (12/15/2008)
Response: With feedback of only 2, I want to know more about you. If you submit any bid (even a high one, and/or one with a quick expiration) we can open a private communication. Your price looks good, and the time frame is acceptable. The van is brand new, and we don't anticipate a problem, but we would also like you to inspect it for us. (12/15/2008)
Response: I can appreciate your concern. I do not use UShip as my main booking. I use several loadboards on the Internet; McNutt, R.A.T. and Central Dispatch to name a few. My ratings with them are excellent and I've hauled cars and trucks through them. I will submit my bid of $1,200 for your review. (12/15/2008)
Response: Thanks! I saw your bid. (12/15/2008)
Response: Since I submitted the bid, I received your email and have gotten information back to you. If you need any additional info or questions that need answering, please email me. Thanks. (12/16/2008)
Response: Thanks for the bid! (12/18/2008)
Question: I could drive this for you mid this week for $750. Please check my 20+ Positive feedback. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks, Ben. (12/15/2008)
Response: Ben: The price is OK, but, to me, not much better than Mikeport's $1,200 bid to haul on a trailer, due to the miles it puts on our brand new van. I might have a hard time having this ready by mid-week. Yes, I am interested. (12/15/2008)
Response: Hello Thanks for the responce. How about Friday of this week? I could also pick it up on monday the 22nd however if I do so it will take a few extra days as i would stop at home for christmas. Please let me know how you feel. Thanks, Ben. (12/15/2008)
Response: Ben: My partner decided that driving the van is unacceptable. We are now only considering bids to have the van hauled. (12/17/2008)
Question: Hello, I live in southern Ohio and can haul this on a 30' tandem dual trailer with dovetail and ramps. If you would like it to be checked out that will be fine as well. My price to you would be 1300 c.o.d., D.O.T. compliant carrier, please advise, respectfully, Sunshine77 (12/16/2008)
Response: Sunshine: Your price is not the lowest, but would be considered. Be sure that you understand the measurements of the van. The numbers in the "vehicle information" section are wrong. See the "additional information" section for these correct measurements: Length 273.2 inches; width 79.7 inches; body height 107.5 inches; wheelbase 170.3 inches. Curb weight is 5,862 pounds. We are looking for someone to inspect the van, then wait a couple of hours for wire transfer payment to the dealer. The van should be ready first thing Monday morning. Robert (12/17/2008)
Response: Hello, and thank you for responding, I understand you have lower bids, we both know lowest is not always best, I am d.o.t. compliant, which is mostly about safety and insurance compliance. I would be able to service this after Christmas. Best regards Rick (height is not an issue, would be hauled on a 30' gooseneck trailer with dovetail and ramps, lower profile) (12/17/2008)
Response: If you make a bid, we can then communicate privately, and deal with questions such as timing. Thanks! (12/17/2008)
Response: Sorry it took so long to respond, not being rude, family situation had to be resolved. My bid is in< Thank you, time to get this done! (12/18/2008)
Question: let me know all this fails, i move quick,,, (12/18/2008)
Response: Do you do driveaway, or do you have a trailer? (12/18/2008)
Response: yes iam drive-a-way service--i cannot belive the reponces you are getting,,,,just let me know if all this fails, request a bid and i will do the job---no sales job here,no beging,no bull just read my feedback----good luck (12/18/2008)
Response: Please explain "I cannot believe the responses you are getting" -- Do you mean that we are getting unbelievably good responses, bad responses, or what? (12/18/2008)
Response: they are very good, thats why i say ill waite--- and watch-- (12/19/2008)
Question: Hello - I know you've made up your minds to have your new Sprinter hauled on a truck or trailer, but if you reconsider after reading this, please contact me and I'll provide you a competitive bid. The two most important issues here are the well-being of your vehicle and the convenience and completeness of the service provided to you. The Federal Consumer Affairs Agency says the safest way to transport a vehicle is to drive it yourself; next best is to have a trusted friend drive it for you. With my level of feedback here on uShip and references, I hope that you can think of me as a trusted friend. One in twenty brand new, high-end vehicles are damaged in shipment from the manufacturer to the dealer, and as one moves away from brand new and/or high-end, the statistics become worse. Having your vehicle driven is a safer and more convenient mode of transport; which leads to the second important issue. If you hire me to do this for you, I become your own personal agent. (cont'd below) (12/18/2008)
Response: -see below - (12/18/2008)
Question: (cont'd from above) I do what you want me to do, when you want me to do it. I inspect the vehicle for you, as if I was you, and take pictures of any and all defects. If you want me to wait a couple hours for a wire transfer, I wait. During the time I'm working as your agent, you are my only customer and your complete satisfaction is my only concern. If you read just a little of my feedback, you'll find others who were at first reluctant to have their vehicles driven, but are now converts. You will also see feedback for delivered motorhomes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The additional miles aside, I should charge more for this premier service, but I'm usually amongst the least expensive bidders. One last thing; your new vehicle should be broken in properly, according to the manufactures directions, and I doubt that this would include towing something right out of the box. You're essentially buying a Mercedes-Benz; I know, it says Dodge, but that's just the moniker. (cont'd) (12/18/2008)
Response: - see below - (12/18/2008)
Question: (cont'd) You don't want to mess it up, or have it messed up by someone else, to "save" a few hundred dollars. Of course, I hope you will consider using my services, but if you don't, I understand and wish you well. I know I can't convert the whole world. Whatever you decide, assuming you hire someone to do this for you, just be sure to choose someone or a company with EXCELLENT feedback and/or references and you should be OK. This industry has many issues. Pay close attention to anything that is less than a positive recommendation. You're going to love this van; I have a close friend who owns one. Thank you for your time and consideration and once again, good luck. ~Jim Henderson (12/18/2008)
Response: Jim: Thanks for the kind persuasion. We still want the van to be hauled. Thanks! (12/18/2008)
Response: Hi - Thanks for your prompt reply. May I kindly suggest spending some time reading negative feedback for carriers. At the very least, it will alert you to common problems, and perhaps give you the information to insulate yourselves as best you can from having a negative experience. Thanks again, good luck and enjoy your new van; it's a fantastic vehicle. ~Jim (12/18/2008)
Response: Jim: Thanks for the words of advice. I have read all 49 feedback entries for one bidder. I will strive to be diligent. (12/18/2008)
Response: Hi - You're obviously diligent, as well you should be, and intelligent. You seem to be getting some very good bids, both in the actual amount, and the quality of the transporters. Personally, I don't like to see any negatives or neutrals about transporters here on uShip, though the old adage about not being able to please all the people.., probably applies. I also don't like cancellations, but they're even harder to entirely avoid, and I'm sure I'll get one someday. In the outside chance you still might consider me, I could pick up your van 12/26 and deliver 12/29, weather and road conditions permitting, for $900. It would be driven according to manufacturer's break-in instructions. Please ask any questions you might have about anything, and let me know if you would like me to formalize my bid. Thanks again. ~Jim (12/18/2008)
Question: word advice new vehicle or used have it hauled (12/18/2008)
Response: Thanks! Do you want to bid? This should be ready to haul Monday, 12/22. (12/18/2008)
