Pick up for the Pennsylvania bike would be around July 6th--8th on my way south. Enclosed transport. Fully licensed & insured, with USDOT Authority inclusive of motor vehicle transport. Question: Hello I hope you get this email tonight . I am a profesional bike mover ,custom enclosed 24 ft ,all soft strap tie down system. I will give you a super one shot price if we can pick up fast SAT about 12 PM,will reroute to pick up in TN one bike for$319 Please accept and call me we are driving Now (6/19/2009)
Response: Hi; Not sure when you left the question; doesn't show a date. Had to go out of town unexpectedly. Am interested in getting both bikes brought from Slatington, PA and Green Leaf, WI. to TN. Ron (6/27/2009)
Question: Some friendly advice. If you are going to tarp your bike make sure that some sort of soft padding goes over the bike before the tarp. The tarp rubbing against the paint is abrasive and will wear the paint off in certain spots if you are not careful (6/21/2009)
Response: Thanks very much; this is my first shipment. As I'm sure you know, I have two to do. Interested? Ron (6/27/2009)
Response: What type of bikes....make, model (6/27/2009)
Response: It'S ALL IN THE DESCRIPTIONS; (6/27/2009)
Question: I placed a nice low bid for the one bike from Pa. to Tenn. - Thanks! Steve (6/23/2009)
Response: Hi; Are you interested in picking up both bikes? Would really like one shipper to do both. Ron (6/27/2009)
Response: If the bikes were along the same route or maybe even on the route back, then yes I would consider both bikes, but they are in completely different areas and directions. Sorry - I can only move the one bike this time - :) (6/27/2009)
Response: HI; Thanks for the response. Both bikes don't have to be shipped at the same time. I have no problem with them being done separately; looking for lowest price for a good job. The bikes were inexpensive, so trying to not put much into freight. Thanks. Ron (6/27/2009)
Question: Hi Ron. FYI - Bikes on open trucks or trailers should NOT be tarped! The tarps can beat the paint off the bike. I have moved dozens of bikes here on UShip and others in the back of my large open pickup, including vintage and show bikes, and they are all designed to be outside, so a trip in the back of a truck resulted in no more than a little dust. Much preferred to paint rubbed off. The rest of your requirements are simply good practice, and should be used by any hauler, either open or enclosed transport. I will bid on your bike shortly, as soon as I confirm a trailer coming back to TN, along your route. (6/27/2009)
Response: Hey Dan; Thanks for your advice. This is my first time to ship a bike. What you say makes great sense. To let you know, I have two identical bikes, one in PA and one in WI. They DON'T have to be shipped at the same time; but I do have to keep the shipping down. These bikes were only in the $700 range each, though nice. I'm looking for someone to haul them both for no more than $400, or I may go myself. I can do it for $300. Several have come close to half that for one, but that's all so far. Since you helped me, I hope this helps you. Thanks again. Ron (6/27/2009)
Response: OK Ron, here's the deal. Your bike in PA is almost directly on the route I have to take anyway. But the one in WI is quite a ways out of the way. For that reason, I can do both for $460, if that works for you. I will bid $230 on this one, and we can work out the rest. (6/27/2009)
Question: I can drive your bike to you for $400.00 if you don't mind? Does it have tags? (6/27/2009)
Response: I have two bikes that I want the same person to get both. Not necessarily at the same time. They're NOT tagged and not to be driven. Thanks. Ron (6/29/2009)
Question: Hi Ron. I got another shipment, farther north in WI, so I can lower my offer. If you will accept my latest bid on this one, I will bid a flat $200 on the one from WI. But, I need to know ASAP to make plans to go your way on both ends of my trip. Thanks. (6/28/2009)
Response: Hello Dan; The only other bids I've seen from you are $227, down just $3 from your $230. Am I missing one lower? Finally, what assurance do I have that if I accept the lower bid on the PA bike, that you will bid $200 on the one from WI? Thanks. Ron (6/29/2009)
Response: Ron, you're not missing anything, but if you simply start the acceptance process (you don't even have to finish it if you don't want to), you will understand what I am trying to say. But, UShip does not allow us to explain their pricing policies to shippers. Your assurance that I will do what I promise is my other 150+ feedback from shippers that will tell you that that is the first thing I will do - honor my word. Trust me, it will all become clear if you want me to deliver both bikes, and you start the acceptance process on this one. Dan (6/29/2009)
Response: Hey Dan; A second question. Do I have your assurance that it will be you hauling the bikes and not subletting to someone else? My decision is down to 3 shippers and I want to decide soon. So the sooner I receive your lowest bid and the answer to this question, the better. Thanks. Ron (6/29/2009)
Response: Ron, I don't bid on anything I can't deliver. I'm not a broker, and I don't even take loads from brokers (not knowingly, at least). I do all my own bidding, scheculing, driving, loading, unloading, collecting, and followup, all by myself (unless you count the Miniature Poodle that rides with me). I setup my bidding on UShip so that, if I bid on more than one shipment on any route, it is automatically set to cancel all others after the first shipper accepts. For example, if you accept, the system will cancel my bids on 4 other shipments from WI, CT and NY. In the next 10 days, I will leave Nashville, deliver a boat from Knoxville to WI, pickup a horse trailer in WI, and deliver it to ME, then pickup a trailer in CT going to NC, then back home to Nashville. I will do this, personally, with or without your bikes, but between NC and Nashville, I would hope that I can stop at your place in Chattanooga to deliver your bikes. (6/30/2009)
Response: Is there a way we can talk by instant messaging; I'd like to do that. (6/30/2009)
Response: Ron, I wish we could talk. But, UShip is too jealous or their fee to share our contact information until you accept my bid. However, rest assured that if anything is not to your liking, you can always cancel the match, and they will refund 100% of the fee they collect from you. If I give you my contact info, they can delete my account, and, as you can see, I get a lot of work from here. (6/30/2009)
Response: Sure; I understand. I'll accept your bid, provided you do the 2nd bike as discussed. Will do that today. Then we can talk. I'm especially curious why you're called "Tax" man. (6/30/2009)
Response: Thank you for understanding. Like I said, if you read through some of my feedback, the most common comment is that I do what I say I will, at the time when I promise it. So, your WI shipment is guaranteed, as we discussed. I earned the title "OldTaxManDan", defending clients against the IRS in audits and Tax Court for over 20 years. They made me so crazy that I would now prefer to drive a truck. Talk to you soon. Dan (6/30/2009)
Question: Oh we get it. You want both bikes moved over 900 miles cchheeaapp, for 300.00. (6/28/2009)
Response: I have no idea where you got a $300 figure; not from me or my information on UShip. Please tell where you got it. I'd like to know. I've stated in several email question and answer forms, $400 for both bikes and have some interested carriers. Thanks (6/29/2009)
Question: I have a truck coming down 81 in PA tomorrow headed to Smithville TN you still need this done? Thanks (6/29/2009)
Response: I've not finalized plans yet; doing some talking and will decide very soon. So, I'm open to your lowest bid. What I've said to people is that I'm looking to ship both bikes (PA and WI) for no more than $400. So, you're welcome to bid. Thanks very much. Ron (6/29/2009)
Response: Thanks for the response. My truck will be through there tomorrow afternoon I have no idea when I will back in area again so I will not place a bid seeing you stated it's not ready to go. Thanks (6/29/2009)
Response: I have no idea, where you got "it's not ready to go". Both items, one in PA and one in WI are ready now. Please tell me where you got that. Thanks (6/29/2009)
Response: from quote: I've not finalized plans yet; doing some talking and will decide very soon. (6/29/2009)
Response: That did not say the bikes aren't ready yet. It said only that a decision has not been made on a shipper. The bikes have been ready for some time. I hope this clears it up. Thanks. Ron (6/29/2009)
Response: Ok, maybe my mistake, I have a truck coming though PA tomorrow afternoon can this be picked up then could give you a price of $200. Would be open transport truck is headed back to TN no other stops. Thanks (6/29/2009)
Question: Ron - What happened? You've let all your bids expire. My plans have changed a little, and since both your shipments are Residence to Residence, I can pickup in WI as late as Sunday, and then pickup your PA bike about 7/8 or 7/9. I can't afford to do the one from WI without doing this one, though. So, you will need to accept my bid on this one first, then I will bid a flat $200 on the WI bike. That gets me just $400, like you were looking to spend. Let me know something, either way. (6/29/2009)
