Response: hi Dale, while answering a question from another bidder I learned from the store manager that if weren't there in person to sign the paperwork that I would most likely need a limited power of attorney in the drivers name to sign for the motorcycle. I am assuming (though I have no clue) that this may complicate things. Ross (5/16/2008)

Response: I would give the dealer a bill of laden for the bike he would need to sign that also you when received,I've moved all kinds of new bikes I think he's worried about about handing it to someone else.Maybe his first time shipping a bike may what something for you stating who is picking it up? Response: Yes, I called and they said they would secure it on the base that it originally came shipped in but not crate it fully. Unfortunately the Store manager who had to authorize this dropped a bomb on me by advising me that if weren't there in person to sign the paperwork that I would most likely need a limited power of attorney in the drivers name to sign for the motorcycle. Response: this isn't overly difficult to do ... use the carrier's name & not the driver's ... driver is an "extension" or agent of the carrier (if you use a private party & not a commercial carrier then different story) ... shipper will also be given specific BOL( Bill-of-lading) so there should be no confusion or issue as to legality for shipment from a carrier's perspective ... would budget around $390 for common carrier service including residential delivery with liftgate ... let me know your position & can then submit formal bid ... Response: Hi Stephen, thanks for the interest. First I need to point out a problem that I seem to have possibly run into. The Store manager is advising me that if weren't there in person to sign the paperwork that I would most likely need a limited power of attorney in the persons name picking up the bike to sign for delivery of the motorcycle. I am fully licensed & insured and will provide documentation if I bid and you accept. I understand about the difficulty with the paperwork regarding the dealership. Shipper (consignor) to load item(s) to back of truck & Consignee to receive / unload same from liftgate ... ... bike to be placed & secured upright to suitable long pallet / skid or used crate base and must be within the footprint thereof not overhanging ... fuel to be drained / gas free & battery (if applicable) disconnected ... any additional parts or accessories to be boxed up & also secured to same pallet ...
