Question:

Don here from Bicentennial Transport based out of Goffstown NH and Southington CT. For 40 years my family has specialized in the enclosed transport of antique and classic cars and other speciality vehicles, and we are loading up in the next few days for a west coast run. Please write back to begin a dialogue about transporting your bike. Thanks. Don - 76TransportReport a Violation
Response: Hi Don: I am giving my 2005 Vespa GT200 to my son, James S. Ranes, in Austin, TX. The scooter weighs 321 lbs and has 1505 miles on it. There is no urgency regarding the timing of the shipment. I am paying for the shipment so I am looking for the most economical price for shipping a six year old scooter. The dimensions are: 76.4 inches length; 27.6 inches width; seat height: 31.1 inches. It has two mirrors which can be turned in. My son lives in Central Austin and can be called to pick up the scooter in a convenient location where your truck can be parked. Also, he can pay you in cash if you give him a receipt. Let me know your best price if this shipment fits your itinerary to the west coast. My tel. nr. is [phone number removed]. Thanks! Jim Ranes1/5/2012In Violation
Response: Jim: I understand. I'm just now back to my office, so let me take a look at all the details and work up a price. Thanks for your quick response. Don - 76Transport1/5/2012Report a Violation
Response: Thanks Don! Look forward to hearing your price. Jim1/5/2012Report a Violation
Response: Jim: Unfortantely, this may not work out. It looks like I'm going to be up on I20 in the Dallas area, and it would probably not be economical to come down to Austin just for the scooter. I really wish I had better news, and I'll get in touch immediately if anything changes on my end, assuming of course you haven't made other plans. Best of luck and regards. Response: Don, thanks for considering this. I have made the transcontinental transit many times in my 350 HP turbodiesel 41 ft motorhome and its expensive to operate (6-7 mpg) plus operating a 12.5 KW diesel generator. I sold that rolling condo several years ago when fuel prices were 50% less. All the best, 1/6/2012Report a Violation
