Question: Hello Lara....thanks for bid request. Are you accepting offers for 'driving' the nissan to Great Falls ? You have driveaway as an option listed. If yes...what are you hoping to spend ? I only do driveaways currently. I am willing to assist pending your thoughts on the matter. I can respond with my lowest possible price ( door to door )....if driving is possibility. Let me know....Lmaxwell (10/1/2007)

Response: Driveaway is fine by us. We have a bid right now for $930 on a trailer, so a driveaway would have to come in lower for us to consider it since it will add a few miles to the vehicle. (10/1/2007)

Response: $950 ( trailered ) is a good bid. At 2200 miles, getting around 19 mpg 'driven'....$850 is cheapest I could go, having to cover fuel, and related expenses, without a whole lot of profit. nearest bus terminal is Silver Springs MD. That would be my only small dilemna. I would need a week ahead to arrange affordable bus fare.
Either way, good luck. Let me know if things get desperate, and driving turns too real option. Thanks for quick response. Lmaxwell (10/1/2007)

Response: You know, this sounds good to me. My husband would rather it be trailered, but I'd rather deal with an individual than a company.
On October 14 we'll be driving from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to meet with you at the Sweetgrass border. I imagine we'll arive at the border sometime around 2:00.
I'm not sure how much time you'd like to move it, but she's pretty much ready to go whenever you are. Let me know and I'll give you contact information for the previous owner.
Thanks,
Lara (10/2/2007)

Response: Hello Lara. Thanks again for response. I will submit bid for $850...( that's total payment to me upon arrival )...cash, please.
Talk it over with hubby, and try to get back with me by tonight.
Once you accept bid, then both our contact info will be visable on uship. Other than my home phone ( listed on my uship account )..my cell is pre-pay. I would activate my cell in route, in case we needed to contact each other. I would also have my laptop for e-mailing. If you accept bid ASAP....I can go to greyhound here in my town ( I live in New Mexico )...and secure bus fare to gaithersburg MD and then from Great falls MT. This would put me in gaithersburg around 12th-13th OCT.
Figure 5 days at 500+ miles a day, driving. Could'nt really meet you until around 18th-19th. Greyhound there is only in Great falls. Although I am no stranger to sweetgrass...it leaves me stranded. Think all this over, please before accepting bid.
If time frame or anything else is too much hassle (10/2/2007)

Response: Due to the days we both have off, the 14th is the only day that we could pick it up. If this doesn't work for you, let us know. We've already arranged for it to cross the border this day and have paid for our car rental. (10/2/2007)

Response: Well......I see you went with a transport broker. Good luck. Lmaxwell (10/3/2007)

Response: Ah, we're not totally sure. The husband wants to try it first since it's trailered. I'll keep you posted with the results! (10/3/2007)

Response: I understand......thanks. I recommend reading feedback thoroughly on anyone you consider ! Best of luck. (10/3/2007)

Response: Just curious if you could still take care of this shipment for us. We'd be looking for delivery to Great Falls airport ASAP. Let us know what we're looking at, including differences in bus ticket amounts for you. Our seller is more than willing to pick you up in MD. (10/9/2007)

Question: I can drive for $825, if I can get a ride to the nearest airport on the delivery end. (10/2/2007)

Response: Which airport would you need? (10/2/2007)

Response: the closest one that Delta serves. (10/2/2007)

Response: We're in the process of cancelling our shipment with the provider matched, since it doesn't seem like they want to contact us.
We're still interested in having you drive it. Our dates now are a bit more flexible. We'd meet you at Great Falls Airport with it so that it's easy for you to fly back. (10/8/2007)

Question: then I would understand completely. You folks being content with transport is what matters. Remember also, that truck would still need current or temp tag and some verification of insurance on the vehicle. Share your thoughts later on. Don't be fighting with hubby lol....Lmaxwell (10/2/2007)

Response: It will be insured as of Oct. 9. I'm not sure how to collect temporary tags in the US. Usually we just keep the plate on it and return it to the owner after transport. (10/2/2007)

Response: hello. I know this gets a bit confusing. My bid is what you hand me. Please read uship rules carefuly to see where their fee takes place. They have required all of us listed on this site to not elaborate on uship requirements. New users usually miss certain details.
In order for me to get to gaithersburg earlier ( 9-10 oct )...I would need to be on a bus on the 7th. No problem except that it robs me of additional $90.00. Because I would miss out on 7 day advance ticket purchase discount...honestly !
I would need to add the additional $90 to my bid.....making it $940. Meeting you at Great falls greyhound on 14th would not be a problem as long as your seller had no delays for me. My goal would be to get truck sometime on the 9th....no later than morning of 10th. temp tag not needed if there is still current tag on truck. And any proof of still valid insurance. A good idea is to have seller write a note allowing driver to operate vehicle to destination. (10/2/2007)

Response: I can't even find a list of rules for Uship. (10/2/2007)

Response: What a can of worms huh? Even with current updates uship has made to improve the site, Some things are till not made clear to shippers. It's even more frustrating on my end. Constantly losing business because of misunderstandings.
I've used this site for about 70% income over the past 2 1/2 years. Until recently, I was trailering vehicles. fuel prices and insurance took it's toll on me. My last trip to sweetgrass was trailering an old Hillman car from calif.
Problem here, folks is that giving personal contact info here ( before accepting bid )..breaks the rules. I could get booted off the site. You also have no recourse if you step outside of uship. Accepted bids are considered binding contract ( to an extent ).
You can e-mail uship for more info. My bid should have stated (from uship ), that additional charge was your deposit fee.
This site is the real deal. There are no scams here. Unless a carrier just does'nt show up for some reason. (10/2/2007)

Question: On ocassion, even I ask for a partial payment after I obtain the vehicle. ( not this time). But only if shipper is comfortable with that. Many transportation brokers charge a non-refundable up front fee, weather they are able to move your vehicle or not. Be careful in regards to that. I'll be getting nasty responses by just saying that. Hope all that helps. See what you can figure out with u-ship. Good luck...Lmaxwell (10/2/2007)

Response: So, what would your price be to have it there for October 14? Are you saying that uship takes about $100 in fees? Or is that a deposit that is refunded to me later? (10/2/2007)

Response: $940 to me c.o.d to meet you in Great falls on 14th. I have never been on the 'shipper side of u-ship. From what I know....their fee is between 8-11% of bid price ( depending on bid price ). I don't know exactly how much if any is refunded to you. It used to be that the carrier's would be charged 8% ( from bank account )...within 30 days of bid acceptance.
I don't want to steer you wrong. Please try to figure out what you can from u-ship. try e-mailing ( jessica@uship.com ).
She should respond tomorrow. She has always helped mw out. she knows me quite well. Mention that I have been trying to answer your questions simply because you are having trouble understanding the rules. This might get us both off the hook, and help you decide on what to do. Give her your username / vehicle description etc. Good luck.....Talk later....Lmaxwell (10/2/2007)

Response: I forgot to ask if there is anyway you'd be interested in driving it over the border into Canada. (10/2/2007)

Response: Sorry for late response. Your seller meeting me at silver Spring Greyhound would be a real +++. Sounds like a nice person.
Driving across border....not recommended. A vehicle not belonging to me. Bound to be complexity with that. And bus fare out of Edmonton is $$$$$ ! Twice the price compared to Great falls.
We don't want to cost you more than already contemplating.
I appreciate the other reader supplying you with URL to uship. I hope it helped. This is perfect example of what I have been commenting to uship about lack of shipper total understandng of the site. You will DEFINITELY be requested to pay deposit fee ( via credit card ) after accepting any bid.
Did you send question to jessica @ uship?
I'll do as you ask and place bid for $940 ( paid to me )......it will calculate to over $1,000 ( including your required deposit ).
depending on what you learn from uship support....if paying deposit is not to your liking......all I or any provider can do is...
(10/3/2007)
