Question: Hello Lisa. Although you have a very fare bid showing already from another provider........if your considering allowing someone responsible to 'drive' the Toyota to destination....I could do so for $900 c.o.d ( total cost to you ). Nothing up front. Assuming the vehicle is still tagged and insured in some fashion. I'll actually be in Portland next week to drive a vehicle to Louisiana.
Either way...good luck with shipment. Lmaxwell (10/20/2007)

Response: I would consider it. I don't need the vehicle in Portland until after Nov. 16 and I would like to keep it here locally at least until Nov. 15.
So, having a driver has the positives of not having to deal with that 10-day window for pickup.
Is the $900 all inclusive? (10/20/2007)

Response: yes, mamm.......that's 'inclusive' bid. Familarize yourself with uship format the best you can. They rather us providers not elaborate on payment procedures. Once you understand the format, you'll see that in regards to my offer....900 would be your total output, via uship. I'm not all that busy these days. Therefore my schedule is pretty flexable. I'll be in the south around 2nd Nov. But can easily hop a bus to where your vehicle is after the 15th. I would just need the bid accepted a good 8 days before my arrival, in order to arrange affordable bus fare. I'll place bid now. You may get even better offer in coming days. Do what works best for you. But I never back out of a deal. My rep here is example of that. Thanks for quick response !....Talk later. Lmaxwell (10/20/2007)

Response: Thanks for the bid. This may be exactly what I need. When you say "COD," can this be a personal check?
I will sooner rather than later, as I like to have plans nailed down. Enjoy your Sunday! (10/21/2007)

Response: Hey Lisa. Cash or cashiers check, or combination of both is the usual preference, To help immediately cover expenses incurred from the trip. As you know, personal checks can get a bit sticky to cash sometimes. Especially in a strange town. Besides, I'll be Greyhound bound once you receive the car. Unless we could go to your bank there to cash it, depending on time of day. My bank is B of A. I'll work with you the best I can. Enjoy your Sunday as well. I have an old friend who is on his way to Florida now ( Harley straddled )...for the Bike fest. I'm jealous. (10/21/2007)

Response: OK. That will work. My bank has a branch just a mile from the destination.
I could pick you up at the Greyhound station in Orlando. It's < five miles from my house. I could possibly drop you off at the Greyhoud station in Portland once I've paid the transaction, although that's less certain. I'd have to schedule the time off with my workplace.
Can you provide references...and how do you do that if you're not allowed to include any contact information in these emails? Anything else you can provide to help me feel more comfortable would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
- Lisa (10/21/2007)

Response: I understand your concerns...it's natural. Especialy if you have'nt used this type of internet based services before. If u-ship were to allow too much personal info to be corresponded,,,,,,they risk loosing commission on shipment. Not too different from e-bay. Have you looked at provider profiles? Mine as well as others? All prior deliveries, including details, feedback, pricing..etc. It covers your 'reference' question. The customer feedback is the heart of uship success ( my opinion ). Besides the personal correspondance available. (10/21/2007)

Response: OK, I'll do more research. Thanks.
Another quick question--Can I pack some things in the trunk? My computer and some winter sweaters would occupy about 1/3 of the trunk space.
That would be a huge savings, as shipping these items would be > $100. (10/21/2007)

Response: No problem for aditional items. Although some providers will frown a bit on that. You know....added responsiblity. But killing two birds is totaly understandable. We'd make sure to note additional items on invoice. (10/21/2007)
