Question:
4/5/2010
Hello. I have a few questions about your bike. (1)Is the length (8' 6") accurate"; (2)Can you work with pick-up between April 14th--15th & delivery by the 18th: (3)Even though you have a $400.00 target, my formal bid would be for around $490.00; Would that be acceptable? Please read the message following this for further information about how I transport. Thanks & I look forward to your reply. Best regards, "Greyhound" (Kelly Freight Services--"A FULLY LICENSED, INSURED & WHOLLY PROFESSIONAL MOTOR CARRIER."Report a Violation
Response: I believe that's an accurate length. I have a 2004 Big Dog (Bulldog). Those dates would work well. I saw in your pictures how you secure the bike, but how do you keep it from getting scratched, dents, or any type of damage? For excellent and reliable service, I would be willing to consider $490. How much insurance do you have? And do you provide proof of insurance? Thanks.4/6/2010Report a Violation
Response: : Hi & thanks for getting back to me. I'll try to answer your questions in the order in which you asked them. The best way to keep a MC from getting damaged is by (1)Properly securing it & securing it in such a manner as to not come into contact with anything else; and (2)By not overloading!! I carry ONLY the number of bikes that I can safely transport. I don't believe in crowding to get a few extra bucks. In this case, it would be your bike & one smaller one--nothing bigger than a racing bike, dirt bike or "crotch rocket" type ould be in ith your bike. This allows sufficient space beteen bikes to significantly reduce the potential for damage by the bikes coming into contact with each other. (Also, proper securing comes into play here, as I said before.) Ordinarily, I don't cover--some use cargo pads. I don't, as I don't want to risk scratching the paint. Please see the following message for continuation of my answers. (Tony K. "Greyhound"--Kelly Freight Services)4/6/2010Report a Violation
Question:
4/5/2010
Hello again. This is a follow-up of my previous message. (1)I am fully licensed & carry "full coverage" (25K) cargo insurance through Lloyd's of London. (Documentation, including a VERIFIABLE Certificate of Insurance is provided upon booking;(2)I transport fully enclosed aboard a liftgate equipped 14 foot box truck; (3)My truck is sleeper-equipped for added security. Your MC will rarely be left untended; (4)I do load securiny checks every 150 or so miles(5)I use a "Pingel" front wheel chock, rear wheel chock, "Canyon-Dancer" handlebar restraint & a multi-point tie-down system using soft/padded nylon tie-downs; (6)I provide daily e-mail shipment tracking--you'll NEVER be left to wonder where your bike is; (7)I provide "full series" photographing & written documentation of any damages noted before loading. If you are interested, please let me know & I will be happt to enter a formal bid. Either way, thanks for your time & consideration. Best of luck & regards! Tony K. ("Greyhound")Report a Violation
Question:
4/6/2010
As for the issue of insurance, I believe that I already addressed that in my origonal (follow-up message) last night. However, I'm sure you must be bombarded with messages & I expect it can get a bit confusing keeping everyone straight. In any event & as I said before, I carry $25,000.00 in "full" coverage cargo insurance. This covers damage or loss through any means. My cargo insurance is through Lloyd's of London. As I also said, if my bid is accepted I will provide you with a copy of my Certificate of Insurance, upon bid acceptance. (Usually ithin 24 hours of bid acceptance.) This can be easily verified as being in force. Once you receive the COI, you simply call the insurance agent who is listed on the COI ith the policy number. In reading over the other bids, I notice that I am one of the few who offers to "prove" cargo insurance coverage. I don't expect anyone to "just take my word for it". Best regards, Tony K. One more item--please go to my "Profile" page (username "Greyhound". Read it in its entirety. Also click on the "Terms & Conditions" section. Last, click on the blue numbers at the top-left of the page. This opens a "real-time" link to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (U.S. Dept. of Transportation). By scrolling down the FMCSA/USDOT link-page, you can verify the following: (1)I hold proper USDOT authority to operate "for hire" in interstate commerce; (2)My "Cargo Carried" includes the (lawful) transport of "Motor Vehicles" (all kinds); (3)I have "Cargo Insurance" on file with USDOT. EACH OF THESE IS REQUIRED BY FEDERAL LAW. Period. There are no exceptions. In fact, USDOT will pull a carrier's license if there is a lapse in cargo insurance--mine far exceeds the 5K requirement under federal law. U-Ship incorporated the "blue number" system to assist customers in easily finding out if a carrier is actually registered w/ USDOT. Best regards, Tony K.Report a Violation
Response: A few more questions. Does your insurance have a deductable for me? Exactly what date can you pick up the bike? I need to know a date/time since I won't be there and will need to have someone at the house to meet you. Also, how much extra would you charge to also take one box that has my motorcycle gear in it? Once we can get these questions answered, I'll be ready to make a decision today. Thanks for all of your responses thus far.4/7/2010Report a Violation
Response: : Hi. To answer your questions, my insurance carries a $1,000.00 deductable, which I pay. I would never dream of expecting a customer to pay for any damages occasioned aboard my conveyance. There would be no charge to you in the event of damage. Nor would I charge for an additional box. This is all said (at this point) in the hope that I may be of service at some future date. Unfortunately, I can't be of service for this one, as I have filled my run during the course of the dialogue beteen us. As there is no guarantee that you would have chosen my services, I filled the space. Please remember me for any future needs. Best of luck & regards, Tony K. Response: Thanks for how responsive you have been and I wish I had made my decision faster because I would like to go with you. When will your next run be? If it's not too many weeks later, I can wait. Also, I will be shipping my bike from Chicago to California at the end of July. Please let me know the earliest dates you could do your next run from Saratoga Springs, NY to Chicago. Thanks.4/8/2010Report a Violation
Response: : Hi & thanks for your reply. It's been a long road & I regret that I had to fill my load, but as per your request I have entered my bid for transport. Please note that as I don't have a definitive schedule for so far in the future, I have set pick-up "for within 30 days of booking", w/ delivery within 3 days of pick-up. I'm sure it will be well before a month, but I'd rather promise "later" and move it earlier, than the other way around. I can almost guarantee that it will be "earlier", but things do happen in this business.. As for a definitive pick-up date when the time comes closer, I'll give you at least 48 hours notice before I arrive for pick-up. One issue that I have not discussed is the possibility of needing assistance with loading. (I normally "single seat".) Because of the size, weight & value of the bike, I may need an extra set of hands while loading. Is that a problem? If so, let me know & I will plan accordingly. Best regards, Tony K. ("Greyhound")4/8/2010Report a Violation
Response: I can make sure to have extra hands there for you - one of my neighbors can help. I will accept your bid and hope to see my bike in Chicago as soon as possible. Thanks!4/8/2010Report a Violation
