Question: Would driving the unit to destination be an option? (2/15/2008)

Response: I’m buying this van because it has been converted to allow a person in a wheelchair to roll in and roll out. My son is disabled and has to use a powered wheelchair, so this van is for me to drive him around in. This is an older vehicle (2002) with a fair number of miles (70,000) and not so good tires. For all these reasons, I thought it might be best to have it trucked to Texas. Once it’s here, we’ll just be using it to drive around town, but I not sure it’s ready for a cross-country trip. Response: Thank you for the quick reply. I will not have my trailer on this trip, so our only option would be to drive it back. We transport many vehicles this way & you can check our feedback on this site from previous customers. It usually offers a savings to the customer. The driver 51yrs. old is CDL licensed and a totally clean driving record. Your insurance will cover anyone you authorize to drive it. Response: The vehicle is a 2002 Chevrolet ventura minivan that has a lowered floor and fold-up ramp to accomdate a wheelchair. I'm told is has 5 inches of ground clearance at the lowest point. It has a V6 with 4-speed auto transmission. No hitch. Dealer tells me it runs fine, as it was owned by the US government. I've only seen pictures, but the body appears perfect. Given the age and the wear on tires, I was thinking it made more sense to have the vehicle trucked to Texas. My son is in a wheelcahir and we need the van ASAP so he can begin going to physical therapy. The vehicle will be available for pickup late Wednesday (2/20/08). (2/18/2008)
