Question: I am moving a family on June 29th to Washington State so I could not meet your dates but I could do it close enough. Could it work? Thanks. (5/15/2008)

Response: Hi, I just found out I need to push my moving dates a couple of months to early August. I'll modify the bid request. Can you do it on or around August 7? (5/15/2008)

Response: I am open in August but I am concerned about the rising diesel fuel prices. How sure are you about the contents quantity? I would have to bid with a provision for a fuel surcharge. Let me know if this will work. I can wait to bid until you get other bids to compare mine. (5/15/2008)

Response: The moving date has changed to July 15, can you do it? (5/28/2008)

Response: Yes. I am in Canda and roaming while using the computer so I will place a bid when I get back in in 2 days. Thanks. (5/28/2008)

Question: I have placed a bid for yourconsideration and I noticed thatyou also have a car. Ihaveplaced a call tothe Budget Manager in my town to see if your weight is with in the guidelines. You can findthatyourself by calling Budget trailer rentals in SF. If it fits as part of my bid, I will bring it for $1600 on a 4 wheel trailer. (5/30/2008)

Response: Thank you for the feedback, I was actually planning to ask you if the car would fit in any way with the rest.
What does the $1,600 include? If it includes strictly the transport, I have to tell you that I have way better quotes than that.
On the quote for the household goods, I am planning to give you a complete list of things and maybe some pictures so that you can be as accurate as possible with the quote (say within 10%), it is important for me to not go over the quote when the time of the actual move comes.
Please confirm that you will arrange the loading / unloading. (5/30/2008)

Response: The rental of the trailer coming from CA will cost me about $700 with the insurance. I do not get a discount on that. Your car will not gain mileage. It will add to my fuel cost and reduce my legal speed to 55mph. I will have to worry about where to park/turn the whole way. It is becoming a real nightmare lately that people have much more than they quote which means that I can not bring other things along. I have yet to charge more to a customer. If you wonder about "LH016 Antique China" feedback, he is a liar. I was charged $150 for customs work & passed the bill along to the buyer as per bid. He had to reinburse them!! It would have been avoided if he had followed my brokers advise to fill up form 7523 which he insisted was not needed & then I was delayed till 3 a.m. until my broker did it. Rules have changed or are beingenforced since January. I now have a code to use when I bring things itno the Us and PARS labels into Canada. (5/30/2008)

Response: I was asking just because I have a quote from someone for $1,700 that is door-to-door service and includes the customs fees and everything in Canada. I understand why you quoted $1,600, I guess it simply doesn't work out that good neither for you nor for me to add the car to the household goods, so let's abandon the car idea for now. (5/30/2008)

Response: The customs fee is $100-250. The standard price for delivery from CA is $1800. They must be offering to drive it. I am loading it into a 4 wheel trailer and delvier it door to door. (5/30/2008)

Response: No, they are not driving it, all quotes are for open trailer. Most quotes I got are around $1,000 from CA to Buffalo NY (I was planning to go there after I land and get it myself), I have one that is under $700 (sounds fishy), and this one that I mentioned, from CA to ON including the fees, $1,700... (5/30/2008)

Response: They must be using a multiple trailer not it pulled on a single pick up. I just could not do it for less. (5/30/2008)

Response: that's fine, no worries, let's try to get the household moved. (5/30/2008)

Response: I will wait for your decision. (6/1/2008)

Question: Thanks for your bid request!. After I load a family in Georgia on June 29th & mvoe them to WA, I am moving a family from Quebec to California about mid June, then another from Victoria, BC to Florida loading them July 28th the latest. I could come down from WA in early June (about June 7th and take you to Toronto. Could that work or would you prefer to wait until August? Please let me know ASAP. I have other people askng for comitment. (6/17/2008)

Response: I would need you to load on July 15. You can deliver in Ontario as late as August 15. (6/17/2008)

Response: I been saying June when I meant to say July. I could arrange for a very good local household mover in SF to rent a truck and take your things into storage on July 15th, and before the month is up I could pick all up and take them to you. Will this work? Will you be able to come to the border to clear customs? Canada does not allow the use of a broker for emigrants or returning citizens household goods even for a car. (6/17/2008)

Response: It would work out perfectly if you could pick up on July 15 and deliver any day between August 5 and August 15 (the closer to August 15 the better, ideally on August 15).
If you could do that, then I could be at the border, if not (if you will deliver earlier than August 5) we would have to use a broker.
Please send me quotes for all scenarios:
#1. Pick-up July 15 - Delivery July 22 +/- - using broker
#2. Pick-up July 15 - storage until later - Delivery prior to August 5 - using broker
#3. Pick-up July 15 - storage until later - Deliver after August 5 but no later than August 15
#4. Pick-up July 15 - storage until later - Deliver on August 15 (preferred) (6/17/2008)

Response: Your things would have to go into storage somewhere either in CA or NY and there is the extra labor cost for unloading/loading and the storage.
My contract with my other two customers have me loading one on the 28th in Victoria and the other as late as June 20th in Quebec. If I load you on the 15th, I only have 4 days to drive to Montreal. It is just too tight. I will have to get a bid from my mover in California to move you to an storage place there. I would prefer to come from WA, load you on the 12th and deliver to a storage unit near the border, then I know that I can drive up from Florida in early August when you are back.
If you agree to load on the 12th I will give you the same bid amount as before .
I have it confirmed. Canada is not allowing brokers to do the paperwork. They are asking the owners of the goods to come to the border.
(6/17/2008)

Response: Is it possible to push the loading a couple of more days, say July 14? If worse come to worse we could look into July 12 as a possible loading date, but I would prefer to push it as close as possible to July 15.
Can you tell me what the total cost would be? (including everything: transport + labor cost for loading / unloading + storage, etc - everything included) (6/18/2008)

Response: Loading into the truck for the long haul takes about four plus hours for three people and about $400. Unloading takes under two hours and about $200 because of driving time and short work I have to pay $100 per person. The storage $100-120. Do you have the final quantity? I can't be late to my customer in Victoria and there is no much time. It is a long ways from Quebec to Los Angeles and from you to Toronto. If I hire out the moving of your things to storage in California I would have to pay about $600 and that will not be to fit it tight for shipping. You cost would be my previous bid and the extra labor and storage not part of the normal tight fit for travleing and delivery to the house. (6/18/2008)

Response: I am sorry, I don't quite get what you mean by this:"Do you have the final quantity?"
So what you are saying is it'll cost me $3,803 your fee + $400 + $200 + $120 => total $4,523?
I understand the loading has to be on July 12, correct?
(6/18/2008)

Response: If I can load you on the 12th the $400 is part of my bid and I will unload near the border. I estimate $200, up to $120 in storage. Then I have to load again in August so I estimate another $200. It will be my bid plus $520 max. It could be less. I am not charging you for my time. If I have to sub out I could not get it done for less that $600 in California, not counting the storage. I must confuse you with another shipper about you maybe making changes on the load. If you have 5 more boxes and another desk ect it would be included. I do not go by weight so do not fret. (6/18/2008)

Response: What I understand is that your bid is $3,803 + $520 = $4,323 or less, correct?
When you say you don't go by weight, you mean for loading / unloading or also for transport?
How much extra would it be to add a fridge + washer & dryer?
Would it help if I posted pictures of what I am actually shipping? I am half way through my packing and I can show the boxes I stacked in my garage + pictures of each item that I want to move. Would that help? (6/18/2008)

Response: I go by volume since household goods do not weight that much and it is for the whole move. I have calculated that you will be using 2/3 of the truck. If you add more things means that I can not bring small loads along to complete my load cost. Unless you you have less of the listed items, Add $200 for the 3 appliances which I normally would charge $1000 by themselves for that distance. I do not need pictures. I am happy with your descriptions. (6/18/2008)
