hello from near Charlotte. Are the items to be dropped off first, also in the list of items above? Would my bid need to include a helper or would you have someone there to help me load and unload? I have a 14 foot truck. I do not think it will hold it all. No boxes? no TV's? 6 arm chairs? (if so you have 21 chairs total and they really eat up room). If you considered renting a truck, one way, to get free mileage, I could bid to provide the labor on one end or both ends. You'd need to drive the truck and turn it in at Asheville. Please check my feedback.

Response: Thanks for responding. I can handle most of my boxes in my SUV and will be making multiple trips. I can even get the TV since i still have its box and can put it in my vehicle. What i need help with is the bigger stuff, glass dining room table (very heavy) and its base, chairs and sofas, mattresses, beds, etc. I am especially concerned about having someone who will keep everything in great condition since most of it is about 6 months old and without defect. I think we can get everything i need to get into a 14' truck. Do you need an exact listing of everything I can't handle in my SUV? I will edit my posting to make sure everything is included that i can't take myself. i can help you move everything, but the only item i'm worried may require a third man is the glass tabletop for my d.r. table. i can get that third man if need be from among my friends at both locations. can you do the weekend of july 19, 20, or 21 (a monday)? Thanks, David

Response: : Well, my truck only holds so much. I see things in your pics not on your list. 2 end tables & 2 night stands. 21 chairs is alot of space. I have a mattress on my truck. A blanket laid down, then glass table top against the mattress, then queen mattress-box spring, then king mattress- box spring with head & foot boards between mattresses & box springs. Right there about 6 ft of the 14 ft truck is gone. Add 2 sofas, armoire, desk, exercise machine u are out of floor space. The rest has 2 B stacked 2 the ceiling. I have plenty of blankets but not enough 2 wrap 21 chairs and protect everything else. U can read my customer comments on care of items. Gas alone with my truck 6 mpg & about 300 total miles since I am south of Charlotte would B close to $400. A 2nd trip, if all did not fit = disaster, another $400 in gas plus an extra 5-6 hours ride time for me & my helper. Not trying 2 B negative but I have experience with my truck & others. Easy 2 rent a truck with free miles. As large as 26'

Response: Can I rent a truck and have you load and unload and drive it? Or you rent it and I pay you back for the rental and your work? I agree making one trip would be best. If i can get someone like you experienced in moving to help me load, unload, and drive that would be a big help. can you give me a bid for if i were to rent a 26' or you were to rent it? or is this not something you are interested in? do you recommend just renting a truck on my own and finding a couple guys on each end to load it? (i don't have experience driving these things)

Response: : I've done it all 3 ways, my truck, their truck or me renting a truck. Best as far as insurance and blankets if u rented a truck. Some offer free miles u can call around and check. We have done both on labor, done 1 end, or followed the truck and unloaded. However, if we did this my bid would only be about 150.00 less since we would still have the same number of drive hours, labor hours. The only difference would be fuel for my car to follow the truck to Asheville versus my truck, And my calculator must be low on batteries, 300 miles at 6 mpg is $200 not $400 for fuel. So $50 fuel with my car and your truck or $200 in fuel for my truck which is too small. Your move date is near. You may get some bids by Monday. I'd check into rental trucks & look for bids soon. Both of your locations are single story? No 2nd floor? We've moved your type items many times, just a matter of having the required space. The more u stack, etc. the more things can rub, rub, rub, with every bump in the road.

Response: thanks again for writing. I've looked at uhaul and ryder and they both charge for miles i think. I would like to know if you have any names of truck rentals that you think might give free miles. If I can rent a truck on my own, then get you and your assistant with your expertise could to help me pack it, I can drive it to Asheville. I could rent the 26' truck, or really whichever one you recommend to cause the least damage to my stuff, and then once I get to Asheville I could find a friend or family member to help me unpack. Would this be something you would consider? You would only have to do one end, and I could take care of the rest. About how long do you think it would take to pack it correctly, and how much would that cost for your labor? Again, I would also appreciate if you could give me some names of truck rentals with free miles.. thanks again.

Response: : You would need to rent maybe 3 dozen blankets, I'd think. Also, have some rope, maybe 100 feet of 3/8 inch rope, tape to tape the blankets around things like chairs, household blankets, sofa cushions, etc. can help. Labor hours to load might be in the area of 3-4 plus our fuel cost and drive time to your location. The "yellow pages" might give you some more names on truck rentals. Yes, I know Ryder and Uhaul charge for miles. Yes, my helper and I could be interested in bidding just on the loading labor. Over the next few days you may get some bids for the whole job with their larger truck, so you could compare those bids with the cost of rent it yourself and hired labor. There are service providers on Uship who only provide labor. Many have their own trucks, all sizes.

Response: Thanks for the advice. I will look into those who provide only labor. About what would your hourly rate be so that I can compare it to others, and about what in drive time and fuel? Basically what would it total? If all things are equal i will go with you because I appreciate your time and expertise. Am i correct that you could do it on the dates requested? Thanks again.

Response: : Is your Cornelius location a single story dwelling? Or is there a 2nd floor? I'll bid for the labor to load based on labor hours, ride time and fuel cost for July 19th or 20th. I have another local job on the 21st. Thanks.

Response: it's single story and i'd be interested in doing it on the 19th. It will be a very easy move for you. I can back the truck right up to the front door. Let me know what your cost would be. Thanks again.

Response: : My bid is going to prevent others from bidding. They would have to read the bid details to know that my bid is only for the loading. They'll see 195 and immediately know they can not beat it and they think my bid is for the whole job. Alot of them do not read details and just bid and go. I think you need to decline my bid for the reason "other" and then I'll ask you another question after you get some bids and say, "I can bid for only the loading for 195 just let me know if you go the rental truck route"

Response: Thank you for considering that. I would actually like you to do it because you seem very trustworthy and experienced. To me, if someone makes a lower bid it is not as important as having someone who is good and can help protect my stuff. Here is my plan right now. I will rent a 26' truck early Saturday morning (7/19) and bring it to my place in Cornelius. You and your assistant and I will pack the truck that morning. By the way, I will probably have at least 2 family members there helping out. I think with that many people we will easily be able to have it done in the 3-4 hours you mentioned in one of your questions. After we get it packed to your specifications, your job is done. I really appreciate your help and expertise in this. Let me know what I need to do at this point.

Response: : You would accept my bid if your plans are set. Uship would then give you my e-mail and phone number to discuss more details. They will give me the same, as well as a map to your location as well as the address. If you need a receipt just print out the match details and I can sign it upon completion of the loading. I'll bring an envelope with a receipt inside so I can report my income. I'd ask you to sign it and put your payment in the envelope and give back to me when done. Cash or money order. We can discuss the time we would arrive. So, everything is on the 1st floor? I have access to more than one worker, so I may choose one or the other and the decision could be based on which one is available that day and time.
I'll bring equipment that can help like a handtruck with 4 wheels, a strap to carry the mattress and furniture straps. You can decide if your dresser drawers will be empty or not, mirror off the dresser, electronics unhooked, bed frames apart, etc. to save time.
