Question: Hello - I'm interested in DRIVING your Toyota Warrior to WA for you. Do you have a preferred pick-up or delivery date in mind? Time in transit would be five days. If you're at all interested, please review my profile and feedback; 100%~no negatives, neutrals, or cancellations in nearly three years and sixty plus matches. Please ask any questions you may have and let me know if you would like me to submit a bid. You would deal solely with me, the driver; no brokers, middlemen, or multiple drivers. I guarantee the exact pick-up and delivery dates; no "windows", no excuses. The bid would include an amount allotted for fuel and tolls, and if I use less, the difference is credited towards the amount due upon delivery. The vehicle would need to be insured and have some form of current registration. I look forward to hearing from you and hope we can reach an agreement. Thank you for your time and consideration. ~Jim Henderson (6/22/2008)

Response: i have not ruled out having the vehicle driven, however it needs an oxygen sensor and oil/filter change. todd (6/22/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - Thanks for your prompt response. The O2 sensor and the oil change are no problem. What else do you know about the roadworthiness of this unit? Tires, brakes, battery, etc. Have you owned it for some time or did you just purchase it? It will probably be a little more of a hassle up front to drive it, getting it ready for a cross-country trip, but it should end up being much less expensive, and as another bidder noted, it's safer and usually faster. Fill me in, please. Thanks. ~Jim (6/22/2008)

Response: the dealer was consigning it for an owner in california. they state it drives well. owner states he replaced front discs and rear drums just before selling it. 3 fairly new tires. the others should get it across country. this is a recent purchase for me.
todd (6/22/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - I see that you were declining bids because you needed to make changes to the listing. Are you ready to accept new bids now? Thanks. ~Jim (6/24/2008)

Response: yes, i wanted to add a link for pictures. todd (6/25/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - I took a look at the pictures and this looks like it's in pretty nice condition. uShip requires us to include the cost of fuel in our bids and I was wondering if you have any idea what type of mileage performance we can expect with this unit, not driving over 60 mph. Thanks for any help you can provide. ~Jim (6/27/2008)

Response: with 60 mph, you should get 16 to 18 mpg easily. it is 3074 miles from FL to seattle on mapquest. thi interior needs a remodel, but mechanically and overall it appears to be a nice unit. todd (6/27/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - Using 16 mpg, and about 3150 for miles (the added miles almost always show up on cross-country trips), I come up with about $800 for fuel. Remember, I credit any unused amount towards the balance due. I always pad the fuel allotment just a little, because if I use more, I don't charge more, and I don't want to burn myself...or you either, which is why I state the allotment, show you the receipts, and credit any unused amount. With that in mind, the absolute total would be about $1,850. To be precise, we'd need to pin down the dates, as I'll need to use public transportation getting to and from, and those costs can vary. My schedule is filling up and probably the best time for me to do this would be about the third week in July (20 or 21 pick-up). I suspect that's a little further out than you would like, but it does give you an opportunity to have work done on it in FL (probably less expensive than WA). I'm out of space here. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks. ~Jim (6/27/2008)

Response: jim, so far you have the leading bid, and i am inclined to commit to giving you the job. my time frame is flexible, and late july seems on par with other bids. i can make a full commitment by sunday or monday. todd (6/28/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm sorry I can't get to it earlier for you, but I'm already committed to other jobs through at least 7/19, and because the Toyota is an older vehicle, there is more of a chance of a mechanical issue. If I were to try to squeeze it in before 7/9, and we did get delayed for whatever reason, I could be in big trouble trying to fulfill my other obligations. I'll go ahead and put the bid in tomorrow, so you can see it in it's formal form, and ask any questions you have about it. I look forward to doing this for you and meeting you. BTW, I think you made a great buy with this. Toyota is at the top of my list of auto manufacturers, and I drive them all, and have owned many. I still own a '95 pick up, one of many Toyotas I've had through the years. Thanks again. Have a great weekend. ~Jim (6/28/2008)

Response: i spoke with dealer this am. they said public transport from tampa is limited. however, airport shuttle/limo can take you there for about $50.00. todd (7/1/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - I apologize for not getting the actual bid in by now. I haven't lost interest, and as soon as I can firm up the travel arrangements, I'll put it in. It won't be far off from the original estimate. Brooksville is proving to be a little bit of a challenge for me to get to from Portland, which is where I'll be leaving from. I won't be able to get there on the 19th, because of the travel times involved, and the flights available to me. The 20th is a Sunday, and while that date might be possible, I'm not sure if your motorhome will be available or not; many businesses in the East are closed on Sundays. Monday, the 21st should be a sure thing, if the business is open. Let me know and I'll get right back to you. Meantime, I'll try to see if I can actually make it on Sunday or not. Public transportation into Brooksville, from the nearest major airport (and lowest fare) seems a little limited. That's very nice of you to offer your hospitality. Thanks for your help. ~Jim (6/30/2008)

Response: jim,
the dealer in brooksville has been very accomodating. a small town family business. they do frequently stay open late when there is more business activity till about 8:00 pm or so. if they knew you were coming, i believe they would accomodate your arrival in the evening. flights to the east coast tend to arrive at 4:00 to 7:00 pm. it is about one hour from tampa to brooksville. if you found an overnight flight, of course, that would put you there in the am. i found inexpensive flights on southwest. i assume you are a savvy and experienced flyer, and will find something reasonable. thanks todd (6/30/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - Thanks for your help. I use Southwest whenever their schedule will accommodate my needs, and they aren't too expensive. They revamped their fares some months back, and it's not as easy now to get their best, most competitive fares. I still use them when I can, though, because they don't penalize the stuffings out of me if I want to cancel or change; like practically every other airline does. My problem here is I'm going to be in Portland, late afternoon, early evening on Saturday, the 19th; that precludes me getting to FL in time to get to Brooksville at any reasonable hour, if at all. Right now, it looks like I'm going to burn a day (Sunday) in Tampa, and take the early bus up to Brooksville on Monday morning. I'll have it figured out later today, and put in the bid. Thanks again for all your help. ~Jim (7/1/2008)

Response: jim,
just choose whatever schedule makes the most sense to you. adding a few days to the delivery time is much less of an issue for me, than having you travel efficiently and comfortably. please try to bid as soon as you reasonably can. if it doesn't work out, i may choose to have it hauled on a truck(at substantially higher cost, but lower risk of complications), and he needs a response soon. thanks todd (7/1/2008)

Response: Hi Todd - I have to go do something right now, but I'll put the bid in as soon as I get back, about 4 PM, my time (Pacific). I guarantee you it won't be over $2,000, and probably not much more than I originally estimated. The pick up would be on Monday morning, the 21st. That should give you plenty of time to get it all checked out and serviced, and certainly decrease the chances of us having any problem coming across. Sorry about the communications; they've been a little hit and miss coming through on uShip; I'm finding them in my e-mail before I see them on uShip...weird. Thanks for your patience. I really want to do this for you. ~Jim (7/1/2008)

Question: HOW SOON CAN IT GO?? I WILL PICKUP AND GET OIL CHANGED AND INSTALL O2 SENSOR THEN DRIVE WEST TO YOU ??THAT WAY IT WILL GET GOOD GAS MILAGE ALSO I CAN CHANGE O2 SENSOR MYSELF (6/22/2008)

Response: i need to get it insured before a trip. the owner states he replaced front discs and rear drums, so the vehicle should be road worthy. i plan to have full tune up in seattle but may explore having all the work done there, in order to insure a safe trip. would driving the vehicle be less expensive than having it hauled? todd (6/22/2008)

Response: HOPE YOU DESIDE SOON OR IM OUT OF HERE,GOTTA KEEP THESE WHELLS MOVING,HOPE TO DO BUSINESS WITH YA,BUT THATS UP TO YOU,THANKS (TRKR1960)TONY (7/1/2008)

Response: hey tony thanks for your persistence. i seriously considered your offer. i chose another bidder for couple reasons. the vehicle only cost me $8000.00, a bargain for the last year made toyota RV's. i need to keep total costs down, and although it adds miles and some risk to have it driven, the bid was more than $1400.00 dollars less than to have it hauled on your nice looking rig. that savings compensates for the greater risk. if the driveaway bids were only a couple hundred dollars less i would have chosen you todd best of luck (7/2/2008)
