Questions for this shipment:
Question:
Hi......can this vehicle be driven from Ohio to Rock Hill? (5/23/2006)
Response:
Truck is road safe but not inspected and has no plate. (5/23/2006)
Question:
trying to be honest with you, whether someone is driving the truck, or it is being pulled or towed or carried on a roll back, there is a chance of an accident. I have bought cars off auction sites (maybe you did too) and I take a bus and go drive them home. a person is allowed to transit a car from where it is purchased to where they live, without title or tag, just bill of sale. I take a tag with me just for the obvious safety of driving with one rather than without. I get in the right lane, mind my own business and drive her home. I live in Rock Hill. I am willing to bid your shipment and my plan would be to take a bus up there and drive it home, if it required a short sleep stop along the way, whatever, I'd make it back, almost surely same day as arrival. I try to arrive 7 or 8am so I can get back before dark. Is this car being purchased by you? or do you already own it? or moving down here? Hope to bid on this if my plan is feasible to you. I have references and +1006 Ebay feedback (5/23/2006)
Response:
Hi there, I know it has a flat tire but it is apparently a slow leak so fix a flat and monitering it may work to get it down here. I purchased the truck via e-bay and would have NO issues with it being driven down, I just want to get it home. Where in Rock Hill do you live? I live off of exit 77 on 77 and could happily give you a ride home from the house after delivery as well. Truck has 86000 original miles and no issues other then the tire. (5/23/2006)
Question:
hi.....one other comment, the fact that the vehicle is not inspected is not a factor, since SC did away with inspections many years ago. (5/23/2006)
Response:
. (5/23/2006)
Question:
i live in ohio and could do this for you on the 15th and deliver on the 16th for $650 cash on delivery thanks wilie (5/23/2006)
Response:
Hi there, Unfortunately I have gotten bids a bit cheaper from another site. Tough with gas prices the way they are, believe me, I know. Thanks for looking tho! (5/23/2006)
Question:
there is limited amount of info we can share here until my bid was accepted. I live within a few miles of you. I've got a tire plug kit I could take. One issue I have is possibly how to get to the Charlotte bus station (my father could take me, I guess). And also, how far the car is from the nearest bus station up there. I have driven about 9 Ebay cars home. The cheapest bus ticket has to be bought 7 days in advance and you must depart on a weekday. You say on or around the 15th. That is a Thursday. I would need, to get the cheap ticket, leave on a weekday and also buy the ticket 7 days in advance, so if your date was the 15th you'd have to accept my bid no later than the 8th. I can't buy the ticket until my bid is accepted, and I can't know the date I could buy the ticket until you had a firm date. Is your auction over? my sellers almost always said pickup within 7-10 days or lose your deposit or pay a storage fee. What is your target price on this shipment? (5/23/2006)
Response:
The auction has been over a while, the seller was fine holding the truck until shipment could be arranged. I could get you a ride to the bus station, no problem there. The date is VERY flexable as long as it is after the 15th (pay day). I am not sure how far the truck is from the nearest bus station, I know it is in Spencerville, if a bus goes into the town of Spencerville I will contact the seller to see if he could pick you up or even just have the truck at the station. (5/23/2006)
Question:
from the above dialogue you declined a bid of $650...............what is your target on this? (5/23/2006)
Response:
I have a bid from a professional driver on another site of $500. Since it is an older truck and since money is tight (like it is for everyone else, no doubt :) I need to go with whatever is less expensive. (5/23/2006)
Question:
I did research on my ability 2 place a reasonable bid. The bus ticket Charlotte 2 Columbus is $58 + $32 to Lima which is about 10 miles from the small town Spencerville. Charlotte 2 Lima does not give a favorable arrival time. Straight 2 Lima would be a late night arrival which might not work for the seller. It would only save $32. The time either way is going 2 be a bus trip of 15 hours. I used 20 miles per gallon & $3.00 per gallon & the 525 miles trip 2 estimate gas 2 be $80. Before time & labor the gas + ticket would be either $138 or $170 depending on mid morning arrival or 10:30 pm arrival & does not include cost 2 get 2 Spencerville or 2 Charlotte bus station. Drive back would be about 10 hours, so a total of 25 hours time, + $170 for ticket & gas. I'll need to use this as my starting point to make a bid. I am sending a request 2 Ohio transit 2 see if there is a quicker & cheaper way 2 get from Columbus 2 Lima, since it is only 92 miles but Greyhound takes over 3 hours. (5/23/2006)
Response:
Wow, you got a lot of reserch done quick! Just let me know what you can do whenver you get an answer from ohio transit, would love to use you for the job if I can. (5/23/2006)
Question:
can't wait that long, how about1st w-end of june p-up? will that work? (5/24/2006)
Response:
I get paid the 15th, which is why I placed the date where I did. (5/24/2006)
Question:
I got info so fast since I have made trips 2 get auction vehicles, so I knew exactly what 2 look for as far as info. Ohio transit only serves local, one to Lima. So u can discuss arrival times with seller about 10pm or about 10am & both arrivals are at the Lima bus station. Getting 2 Charlotte station is no problem. Leaving from Rock Hill station is worse, worse times, & longer trip. I am zip 29730. Ever heard of it? The $58 bus ticket from Charlotte 2 Lima arrives late at night. 2 arrive in Lima the morning, it is $58 to Columbus & then $32 more 2 Lima. Unless the seller has some relative or some situation that might allow for them 2 somehow get the car 2 Columbus. What is your target price on this? I see one bid was declined ($750) and then in dialogue $650 was declined. I'm at $170 for gas and tickets as my starting point and then about 25 + hours of time. I can do this on the 15th or any date if my bid is accepted 7 days B4 the date so I have time to get the cheaper bus ticket. (5/24/2006)
Response:
Let me get with the seller and see if we can get the truck to the station. I will let you know about that, or if he can take you to his place. (5/24/2006)
Question:
what do you mean by professional driver? will they drive the truck back? I have delivered for the postal service and also Pizza Hut over 15 years. I consider myself a professinal driver. I do not have a way to tow or carry the vehicle and I understand the cost thing. A truck or trailer headed this way from Ohio may be able to low bid me. I am basically making a special trip from Rock Hill for the sole purpose of driving the truck back, and not picking it up on my way from somewhere else to somewhere else and dropping off in Rock Hill. I'll try to place a bid before June 5th. This will allow you to accept or decline and also give the 7 days needed to get the ticket in advance for the lower cost for the 15th. If you want me to bid earlier, let me know. I do not want to hold you up, or the person on the other site, from knowing what is going to happen. (5/24/2006)
Response:
I was referring to a tractor trailer driver pulling what I would guess would be a big rig. They are open as they are constantly doing trips, which is why I figured I would list the truck here to see what happens also since I had my horse trailer moved from this site and had a wonderful experience. (5/24/2006)
Question:
.........."Let me get with the seller and see if we can get the truck to the station. I will let you know about that, or if he can take you to his place.".........ok.......let me know the date you want me to make a bid so you can make a decision and get your plans together. (5/24/2006)
Response:
Want to be sure you read the most recent post on the truck. If you want to withdraw your bid I will understand. (5/24/2006)
Question:
Doest this truck still need to be hauled ..? We have a 2 car flatbed with an open spot if your interested ... (5/24/2006)
Response:
I am speaking with another shipper but am still open to possibilitys, please feel free to bid. (5/24/2006)
Question:
We have 1 spot on the flatbed left if you would like to reserve it... We would pickup between the 4th & 5th with delivery between the 5th & 6th .. Our quote would be $450 door to door, insurance included .. Check our feedback & let me know if your interested in that price... I will place a bid, there after .. Thanx again .. Lee Trans Tech (5/25/2006)
Response:
Unfortuantely I need the truck moved after the 15th, as that is when I get paid so can therefor pay for shipping (5/25/2006)
Question:
Just so you know,it is ILLEGAL to operate a motor vehical in the state of ohio without current tags (registered to the vehical)and proof of insurance to said vehical. If you get picked up or get stopped on a road check the driver would be charged with fict. registration($5000 fine,180 days in jail)No insurance on said vehical(owner and drive will loose there drivers license)and the vehical will be impounded until proper registration-tags and title is presented. It is also illegal to sell or purchase a entire vehical in the state of ohio without title. However you can buy or sell the vehical for parts as long as it is daerilic.(no motor or transmission) No reply need, just thought you would like to know the law. (5/25/2006)
Response:
I will be sure to forward that info to the bidder. (5/25/2006)
Question:
I will see what I can do before youplace a bid ... Let me see what my next run takes me ... Thanx Lee Trans Tech ..... (5/25/2006)
Response:
thanks! (5/25/2006)
Question:
hi Mrs ???? (I think it was Jenkins) no problem that I see. Now you say after the 15th. The 15th was a Thursday. As long as the date of pickup allows me to depart on a Monday thru Thursday to arrive on a Tuesday thru Friday. (5/26/2006)
Response:
as long as the notes about legality didn't bother you. (5/26/2006)
Question:
Ohio DMV is going to call me with ALL the particulars. I want to confirm the things that have been reported here. (5/26/2006)
Response:
sounds good. I have gotten the truck either way, but I would hate for anyone to get in trouble so if it HAS to be on a trailer to avoid that.. anyway, let me know what you find out. (5/26/2006)
Question:
Hi we are based in Ohio and can tell you you will need tags and you will need proff of insurance. If you are paying someone to transport they will also have to have insurance as a transporter. That is if they the state knows you are paying them. It called driveaway insurance. Thanks (5/26/2006)
Response:
thanks (5/26/2006)
Question:
hi...I contacted Ohio DMV & info. I have transported vehicles from 6 states & all have their own rules. The basic rule is u can transit a car from where u buy it 2 where u live, with bill of sale as proof of ownership. Please tell me what is needed to get it on the road? Didn't u say it has a flat tire? what else? Ready to roll on this if u have picked a date & of course if my bid is accepted. Any weekday departure is ok with me as long as it is 7-8 days after bid is accepted (ticket requirements). I hope to avoid the expense of trip to Charlotte bus station, fix flat tire etc., and expenses to Spencerville. As with all my transports I can call you every couple hours to let you know my progress, etc. I have other jobs coming in so hoping for a firm date for arrival in Lima. I have insurance and if needed can go to a Ohio DMV office for a temporary plate, cost $10.50 if you want to do that. So, let me know on date u may make a decision, expenses on truck, going to bus station, tag, etc. (5/27/2006)
Question:
Hi! Since veh will likely come thru NC, NC requires tag. Good luck w/your classic '75 Chevy P/U! Bet it's a beauty! (5/27/2006)
Response:
LOL, thanks, she is. I just need to get her here :) (5/27/2006)
Question:
You cant get a temporary tag in ohio without a title. And the title would have to be notorized into the persons name who is getting the tag.I am not bidding on this job or trying to get the job,but your best bet is to have it trailered down.If this truck gets pulled over on the way down you will loose your truck because you have no title, and ohio will pull your Ga drivers licence for allowing your truck to be driven without proper tags and insurance.Plus you will have to bail the driver out of jail! lol good luck! (5/28/2006)
Question:
You can choose to trailer it or let it be driven. Some of the above info being reported is not totally true. No party to this shipment has a Ga. driver's license, so people are making things up out of thin air. I'm glad I am not as paranoid about driving the vehicle for you as other people. I've done it close to a dozen times, I know the insurance requirments, tags, title, bill of sales, etc. Some of your bidders have people going to jail, outrageous comments here. I look forward to my bid being declined or accepted in the next 7-10 days which puts us about a week before your target date of June 15th. I am acquiring other jobs and until you are able to make a decision, other dates that I now have open may become filled. I am good to go for you, on June 15th depart or June 19th depart or later as long as it is a weekday. These dates may change as your shipment remains open. (5/28/2006)
Response:
sorry, I have been away a few days. I am not too worried if you aren't, however I would hate to have my truck impounded. Are you Positive this is not a possibility. (5/28/2006)
Question:
As a followup, the state to which the truck will be delivered allows 45 days to register a vehicle. As you and yours may know, a bill of sale is required to verify proof of sale, so please discuss the with you and yours. You should ask the people talking about somebody's Ga. drivers license being lost, and people going to jail and you LOSING your vehicle to the police or some magic troll along the highway, you should invite these people to bid your shipment. I wish them a safe trip should their bid be accepted. (5/28/2006)
Question:
Hi.....I have secured another small job on June 16th. This would not allow me to go get your truck on the 15th. I can help you the week of June 20th (such as a departure on the 20th and delivery to you on the 21st), as long as those dates remain open for me as other jobs come my way. (5/28/2006)
Question:
I forgot the fee that Uship charges me so my bid is too low, but I'll honor it and hope the truck gets better mileage than the 20 mph I used to calculate cost. Are you able to take me to the Charlotte bus station? what is the seller willing to do on getting the car to Lima? I advise you to talk to your family and discuss the possibilities. I do not think there is a 0% chance of anything happening, tire blowout, accident, baseball size hail in a storm, etc. I am more concerned about those, and others, than your car being impounded or me going to jail. And you need to protect your GEORGIA license as has been recommended already. I am also considering a tow dolly since I need to carry somethings that would need my truck. So, please let all of know when you will accept a bid on this shipment so we can plan our jobs. (5/30/2006)
Question:
also, I think you mentioned something the car needs before it can be driven or pulled. Was it a flat tire? will the seller repair it and deduct from the cost or what? (5/30/2006)
Response:
Hey, Wanted to let you know, I do feel bad after all the work you have done so far, however a gentleman has bid $350 to tow it to me, which I understand would be way below what you could do it for. I am very sorry, but due to cost reasons, as we discussed eariler, I do have to take the lowest bidder. If this falls through I do hope I can contact you in the future. (5/30/2006)
