Question: Hello - would the shipper (or originating location) be willing to place & secure bike to suitable skid / long pallet or crate base so as to be acceptable for common carrier service? ... THX (6/23/2008)

Response: understand and here's a suggestion given what you said ... local bike dealers will often have used / salvaged crate bases which may be acquired or even they will “palletize” the bike properly for shipment albeit for a fee but they are well versed in this need ... drop shipping to another dealer is good too as they can “de-crate” the bike & may even give you some credit back for the crate base? ... this would also offset common carrier accessorial charges as bike would then be coming from (or going to) business type locations instead of residential to residential ... just an idea ... let me know if this might be a doable option & can then bid to suit ...
