Additional Information:
I need to move a 1961 Shasta Airflight travel trailer from central Pennsylvania (near Altoona) to Atlanta.
The trailer has not been inspected, registered or moved for 30 years. The seller of the trailer is in the tire business, and will replace the tires and grease the bearings if necessary to roll. The condition of the trailer brakes and lights is unknown. A temporary registration can be issued in Pennsylvania if necessary.
The trailer uses a standard 2 inch ball hitch.
The lister is the new owner of the trailer and may not be able to answer your questions without consulting the seller. This may take up to 24 hours. My apologies for any inconvenience.
ALL BIDDERS MAY VIEW A PHOTO OF THE TRAILER AT http://www1.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=151181246/a=2310387_2310387/t_=2310387
YOU CAN REGISTER AND SIGN IN TO SEE THREE PHOTOS OF THE EXTERIOR, BUT THE "COVER" PHOTO YOU WILL SEE AT THIS URL WILL GIVE YOU A GOOD IDEA OF THE TRAILER.
About lights and brakes - testing these items is more work than the seller is willing to do - the condition of these items remains unknown. The stated weight of the trailer was taked from the last registration in 1977.
Questions for this shipment:
Question:
Hi there! Do you have a picture you can put in the listing? Blessings, Becky (1/10/2007)
Response:
I do have a picture. I am new to UShip, and I am having difficulty figuring out how to post the picture without having to accept or decline all of the bids so far. Please stay tuned. (1/11/2007)
Question:
Hi! Can Seller Test The Lights As Well? Does It Have Brakes? are You Sure About Weight? Let Me Know! Dave (1/10/2007)
Response:
Thanks for your questions. The seller has told me that he has no way to test the lights, but I will ask again. I will also ask about trailer brakes. the weight is the published weight for this year, make and model - the trailer has not been weighed to my knowledge. (1/11/2007)
Question:
What if we pulled that trailer right up on my 20 footer? I could do this for you and remove the stress of a vehicle that has not moved for so long. I could meet your max and secure it nicely...combined with taking the trip slowly to minimize metal fatigue and wind pounding. Also, I would cardboard cover/foam cover the glass and front of the trailer. Please let me know, would be happy to do this for you! (1/11/2007)
Response:
Thank you for your kind offer. I will definitely consdier this option along with the others. Thank you for your time. (1/11/2007)
Question:
Hi shipper, if you could get a temp tag and registration for this trailer I will have a driver available to pull your trailer with p/u on the 22nd or 23rd and delivery next day. Possibly same if p/u is early enough for $825. Fully legal and licensed. DOT# 1557599 and MC# 578038 with $750K liability and $100K cargo insurance. My insurance company will fax you a certificate stating your anme and info on cargo prior to p/u if accepted. Will pull with a 2006 one-ton Dodge flatbed dually 4wd truck. Plenty of experience pulling travel trailers with FEMA outside of USHIP. Can send any references or other documents you may request once accepted as well. Thank you, Krystal w/ Willis Transport LLC (1/11/2007)
Response:
Thank you for your kind offer, and all of the supporting references and detail. I will consider this approach along with the others. Thank you for your time. (1/11/2007)
Question:
Hi we will pull on a gooseneck fith wheel.that way you know there will be no problem and no need for tags or lights ect.it can be backed onto the trailer.Let us know.We are submitting a bid now .Thanks Bob (1/11/2007)
Response:
Thanks for your offer and your bid. I will consider it along with the others. (1/11/2007)
Question:
DEAR SHIPPER AS I HAVE FOUND OUT IN PA. AS THE OWNER YOU YOURSELF WOULD HAVE TO GET THE TEMPORARY TAG.THEY WILL ONLY ISSUE THEM TO DEALERS OR THE REGISTERED OWNERS OF A VEHICLE OR TRAILER.JUST THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW THIS INFO.I HOPE THIS HELPS. (1/11/2007)
Response:
Thank you for the information. (1/11/2007)
Question:
going to new york tomorrow and need something coming back to atlanta. I could put the travel trailer on my trailer and deliver it to atlanta for 650.00 if this sounds good let me know I will be leaving soon thank you.sjeffcoat (1/11/2007)
Response:
This is a great idea. Unfortunately, I will not be in Atlanta this weekend to receive it. And, we are running out of time to coordinate. If this situation happens for you again after the holiday weekend, please offer again. Thanks for your time. (1/11/2007)
Question:
I can load it on my trailer so none of the issues will really matter...can do that for 1350.00...Ray...bowtie (1/11/2007)
Response:
Ray, I have received bids offering the same assurance for a lower price. Thanks for your time. (1/11/2007)
Question:
Hi there! Becky again! Are you in a big hurry to get this shipped or could you hold out til the beginning of next month? If so, I think we would be willing to do this for you at a price of $795.00! Please let me know, and also please take a moment to view our profile and read our feedback! Thank you and be blessed, Becky (1/11/2007)
Response:
Hi Becky. I am not in a big hurry, and neither is the seller. The beginning of next month would be OK. I see in your profile that you use a rollback truck. Would this require a tow vehicle on each end to back the trailer on and pull it off? A tow vehicle is NOT available on either end. Thanks. Linda. (1/11/2007)
Question:
Can this be picked up on 1/17 and delivered on 1/19? It will be transported on my trailer so registration and lighting issues would not be a problem. The price would be $850. (1/11/2007)
Response:
I can't say just now. I am still looking for a secure storage location for the trailer on the receiving end. At this stage, I would say that it is not possible. If anything changes on that in the next few days, I will let you know so that you can bid. Thanks. (1/12/2007)
Question:
I could hold the trailer at my place until you get to atlanta. and you could pay me at time of pickup by pay pal if this sounds good let me know.thank you, sjeffcoat (1/12/2007)
Response:
Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, I don't have a tow vehicle on my end, so I would have no way to pick it up at your place. (1/12/2007)
Question:
Hi Linda! I spoke with my husband, and he says that we wouldn't be able to do this because it would be too tall on our flatbed. Sorry we can't help! Blessings, Becky (1/12/2007)
Response:
Thanks for checking it out. Good luck to you. (1/12/2007)
Question:
I,m Still Waiting For And Answer This Is Worm. (1/14/2007)
Response:
I have not yet secured a storage location, and so all active bids are still being considered. (1/15/2007)
Question:
Hello: I placed a bid and just wanted to say we are open this week sofar. If you would like this done this week just let us know and we can go from there. No pulling just load & go. THANK YOU FOR THE CHANCE TJ /Sky's transport (1/14/2007)
Response:
Hi! I am still working to secure a storage location. As soon as I work this out, I will consider all of the active bids. Thanks. (1/15/2007)
Question:
I have some contact numbers for very reasonable storage. I have contacted USHIP to determine whether or not I can post them on here or if they can email them to you direct. Just trying to help you out whether I am the winning bidder or not. (1/17/2007)
Response:
Thanks for offering to help on this. I believe that I have located the perfect place yesterday - I'll know more later today when I go to sign the contract. I would be intersted in anything else you can direct me to before then. I am looking for it to be close to my home (30319), secure, and accessible for renovations. Thanks. (1/17/2007)
Question:
I would actually love to bid on this but I am not sure that I can compete with the low bids that you have. The least I could do it for would be right around the $900 mark. (1/17/2007)
Response:
Thanks, Steve. I'll request a bid from you if the bids that I have don't work out for some reason. (1/18/2007)
Question:
Hi Linda, I was able to reduce my previous quote by quite a bit as you can see by my bid. Can this ship sometime this week or are you still looking for storage? Hopefully we can work together and get this trailer to Atlanta for you. Thanks for your consideration....Steve (1/20/2007)
Response:
Thanks for the bid, Steve. I have identified a storage location and I am in the process of asking questions of several bidders. I will most likely send you some questions as well. (1/21/2007)
Question:
Thanks Linda, I will answer any and all questions that you may have for me. (1/22/2007)
Response:
Thanks. (1/23/2007)
Question:
I apologize Linda but the rest of my answer got cut off. But yes, I have no problem going with you to the tag office so that they can verify the VIN number or anything else. If I can deliver on the first my schedule will be very flexible and allow plenty of time to do this. (1/22/2007)
Response:
Thanks. (1/23/2007)
Question:
Just wondering if you were close to making a shipping decision as of yet? If my shipping dates dont work for you let me know and I will cancel my bid. Thanks......Steve (1/24/2007)
Response:
Steve: I answered your question within your bid posting. Thanks. (1/25/2007)
Question:
Hi Linda, just wondering if you were able to get an update from your storage facility. (1/28/2007)
Response:
Not available yet, Steve. Sorry. (1/29/2007)
Question:
Linda, I may have to cancel my bid as I have come across another shipment. Please advise as to whether or not the storage situation is taken care of. Thanks....Steve (1/29/2007)
Response:
Steve: The space will not be clear for your proposed delivery date, so please go ahead and accept your other shipment opportunity. Thanks and good luck. Linda. (1/29/2007)
Question:
Linda, my shipment did not work out the way it was supposed to. I can still take care of your if you are interested. I can drop my price to $750 as well. (1/30/2007)
Response:
Steve: Thanks for your interest. I'll request a bid from you if I would be prepared to accept it from you at that price. (2/4/2007)
Question:
I can move this for you for $700, and can store it In Roanoke for you FOC, until you are ready to accept delivery (2/3/2007)
Response:
Thanks for the offer to haul and store. I don't need temporary storage at this point - I have contracted a space. (2/4/2007)
Question:
So do you just need me to haul it for you then ?? (2/4/2007)
Response:
I am considering a number of bids right now, and will make a decision tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. Thanks for your interest. (2/4/2007)
Question:
I would like to know if you made a decision on this shipment. I can work on the lights on the trailer. check out my profile John. (2/6/2007)
Response:
John: Not yet, but I am getting close. (2/6/2007)
Question:
HI,WOULD 500 GET THE BID? (2/6/2007)
Response:
Hi! The fair answer is that I will consider all reasonable bids. Your feedback is really good, but I don't see anything in your profile about how you transport - would you propose to tow my trailer ro transport it on a flatbed/car trailer? Thanks. (2/8/2007)
Question:
Hello, if this is ready by the beginning of next week I could do it for $700 dollars. I have my own tag and set of lights. This price includes everything, even insurance. Please let me know. Thanks Jeffrey (2/9/2007)
Response:
All next week - the 12th through the 18th - my seller is on vacation. So, the trailer could NOT be picked up during that time. Thanks for contacting me about your offer. (2/9/2007)
Question:
Hi Linda. I am planning another trip to your area next week. Id still love to help you out on this but I can see you have lower bids. Check my feedback as I have just completed a 1500 mile shipment of a boat to ND. Let me know if you would like me to place a bid. Thanks.....Steve (2/11/2007)
Response:
Steve: I am in a position that I would like to consider a bid from you, presuming that my trailer will fit on your trailer. I know that your trailer is 18 feet long, but are you confident that the width will accommodate my trailer? I had the seller double-check the measurements. It is 6'4" from outside of the bulge of the tire to the other outside bulge. The width from outside of tread to tread it 6'. The body of the trailer is 7' 6" and is about a foot off the ground where it is that wide. Steve, is this means that it will fit on your trailer, I would like to consider a bid from you. I would like to have it delivered on or before March 12th, during the day Monday thru Friday. Thanks. (2/16/2007)
Question:
Hi Linda, I need to change the pickup and dropoff dates in my bid and this is the only way I know how without canceling and re-bidding. We need to add a week to our timeframe. So, we would not be able to pick it up until the 11th or 12th. If this won't work for you, you can decline our bid. Sorry about that! Chris - Pantown Classic Transport (2/15/2007)
Response:
Thanks for letting me know. I will be out of the country for 3 weeks beginning the 13th - I reqally wanted to have the trailer in Atlanta by that time. I am inquiring with other bidders about their available time frame, and I'll let you know what I learn. If I can't find anyone to get it to Atlanta before the 13th, we can talk about dates after April 1st. I'll let you know what I learn. Linda. (2/16/2007)
Question:
Hi Linda, just wanted to give you a few more details. My trailer is 7ft wide between the fenders. It also has a fender height of 9 inches. If your measurements are correct, I will have no problem loading up your trailer. I can definitly have your trailer to you in your desired timeframe. My previous bid will still be the best I can do however. I realize that you have a few lower bids but keep in mind that I can go with you to your motor vehicle office and take the time to ensure a safe delivery. I would like to get this done within the next 2-3 weeks if possible but I can work with you on the exact dates as needed. Let me know if you need any other information from me and also if you would like me to place a formal bid. Thanks.....Steve (2/16/2007)
Response:
Steve: There have been several numbers mentioned in our correspondence - I would be happy to consider bids from you up to $775. Your dates of availability suit me well and it looks like your trailer is a good fit for my trailer. Linda. (2/16/2007)
Question:
Linda, $775 was the bid that I was referring to. I will place another bid for you for your consideration. Thanks.....Steve (2/16/2007)
Response:
Thanks. (2/16/2007)
