I am flexible, but would like it soon. I am not rich, and prefer some one heading this way, or a dead head run this way. I am willing to wait for a driver to secure other loads along the route to make the most of this haul. I do need some one that is willing to work with me on a payment arrangement.

Additional Information: I have a 1953 Ford fire truck sitting in Chariton, Iowa, and it needs to come to Redmond, Oregon. It is about 1700 miles. It was located in Miles, Iowa, until the 13th of May when a fellow club member picked it up for me. He used a late model Ford F-250 SD with Power Stroke diesel, and a tandem axle gooseneck trailer. He said it seemed a bit too heavy for his truck. It would require at least a F-350 dually, with comparable trailer, or larger. The initial intent was to drive the truck with volunteers from the Ford Truck Enthusiasts club as a relay event spanning the 1700 miles, involving fire departments, car clubs, and media along the way. Investigation into the condition of the truck showed it was not in as good a condition as described by the seller of the truck. I need some help, and I cannot afford to be gouged. The truck runs and drives, but the brakes are in poor condition. The person who is storing the truck for me can be available to help get the truck loaded. He has done a little bit of work to it, and has got it in fair running condition. This truck is a low mile original unit, and care should be taken due to its weight and age. Report a Violation

Questions for this shipment:

Question: Why are you being so cheap? This is the Guy that was trying to help you out... (5/25/2006)
Question: Wish I could help you out but my equipment isn't big enough to haul it either. Not to be negative but $1000 for a move of 1700 miles with 1/2 of it through the mountains isn't realistic. It'll cost somebody nearly that much for fuel and that doesn't figure time and expenses and wear and tear on equipment. Hope you find a way to move the old gal. You might look for a drop deck semi through one of the big truck boards available at your local truck stops. It'll be awesome when it's done!! Good luck!! (6/15/2006)
Question: Yeah with price of fuel out west i would'nt consider for less than 1.80 a mile (8/23/2006)
Response: With the price of fuel, an average of 10 iles per gallon, you should be able to do it for 30 cents a mile to break even, and would profit at 50 cents a mile, and make good at $1.00 per mile. I relisted my previous ad, and will pay as high $1800 for the transport. Even if you only get 6-8 MPG, you would be making a profit, and if you landed a return load, you would not be in a financial bind. (8/25/2006)
Question: I am interested in shipping your fire truck for you. I need to know the outside width of the front tires to see if it will fit on my trailer. In the event it will fit, I am scheduling a load your way towards the end of September. Thanks Colby. (8/31/2006)
Response: Approximately 78". I have a F-750 here, but it's hubs are different. The fire truck maybe a couple inches narrower, but shouldn't be any wider than 80". Let me know what you think, and what you'ld charge if you're heading this way. I need a little notice to get the money squared away. Thanks, Joe. (9/5/2006)
Question: HI i could haul your fire trk. I have a ford 550 with 35 ft. 20000 pd. trailer with wench am dot. legal with ins. for 1800 plus uship permit fees. i do hauling of yt site. thanks garry. (9/1/2006)
Response: I don't think there are any extra fees. I would be willing to pay $1800, but would need a little time to get the money together. How do you ned it? Half down, half at delivery? Let me know. Your truck and trailer combo is more than adequate to haul it. There is load help available in Iowa, and the truck does run and drive. (9/6/2006)
Question: FYI, there are extra fees. U-Ship charges the drivers about 8% of the bid fee, so the driver would have to pay U-Ship about $160 or so at the $1800 bid. GZ TOP. (from Sisters, OR) (9/6/2006)
Response: Ok, I guess I'll expect to pay the shipping price plus the fees. In my desperation to find a shipper to haul my truck, I didn't read the fine print. The gas prices came down a bit over here, and winter is getting closer. The sooner I get a response, the better. In the past few months, my world turned upside down. I ran into problems getting my truck here, then in June, my mom was killed in a car wreck. A couple weeks later, my wife had to undergo a major surgery. All this while moving from our apartment to a 20 acre ranchette owned by my father in law. I just want my truck hauled. I can't handle many more issues in this already exhausting year. If I need to pay fees, I'll do so, but I just need some one to let me know if they can haul it. $1800 plus fees. (9/7/2006)
Question: Hang in there man, someone will come forward to get this done. I would do it but at this point I dont have a heavy enough trailer. I know you feel like the world is upside down, I am here to tell you things will work out. Like I said before, I am in Sisters, so we are almost neighbors. I wish that I had the proper trailer now, but I am in the process of buying one and nothing is on the horizon. Good luck, and I know it is easy for me to say, but it will work out. GZ TOP. (9/7/2006)
Response: Hurry up and get a big trailer, and then you can go get it, and then I'll invite you over to help restore it. Anyhow, thanks for the encouragement. Things have been rough, and I have been getting a little discouraged. It seems to pour when it rains. Between my mom being killed, and then moving, and then the truck troubles, it's been hard. You probably heard about the accident that killed my mom. It was June 24th down by Chemult at hiway 97 and 58 junction. The motor home and Audi accident that killed 3 people. People like you have made getting through the bad times a little easier. Any how, my name is Joe, and yeah we're practically neighbors. (9/8/2006)
Question: What do you mean by "work with you on payment arrangement"? Thanks (9/9/2006)
Question: HI joe this is Garry sorry about all the problems. We could do this for $1800.00 dollars, plus u-ship fee of approcamatly $160.00 dollars. I would like half down and the rest on deliver. I don't know when for sure when I could do this. Because I would like to find something to haul back. But I would like to do this within the next month. Is there anyway you could find out the weight of the truck? If that would be ok? Let me know. I will then put in the offical bid. Thanks Garry (9/9/2006)
Question: Hello, I’m located in Nebraska. I could pickup your fire truck sometime this week and have it out to you a few days later. We talked a while back about your driver relay plan. I’m fully insured & legal, I have the correct truck and trailer to haul heavy loads. Please let me know if I can be of service. Bill S (9/9/2006)
Response: I don't recall who you are. How much are you talking. I'm currently looking at accepting the $1500 bid that has been placed. I would need a little more info on your services as soon as possible. (9/9/2006)
Question: Hello, My name is Bill S from Nebraska; you called me some time ago. My charge will be $1800.00 + uship fees. This is more then the $1500.00 bid you are currently considering so you may what to go with that, but keep in mind I'm fully insured and legal with several references. Good luck! (9/10/2006)
Question: Hello, I forgot to tell you, if you decide your are interested in my services. I require full payment the day I deliver it to you in Oregon. Thanks Bill S. (9/10/2006)
Response: The other bid expired. My father law has offered to pay the shipping fee, and let me pay him so that I don't have to wait while saving the money up. If can haul it, you need to place a bid. My father in law asked how do you want it. Cash or cashiers check. When do you want to do it, and what kind of time frame. He is retired, so he can go down to the bank whenever, and get the money for the service provider. I did send a bid request to the guy coming this way that will do it for $1500. If he does not respnd, then I will be glad to hire you for hauling it. If you respond before the end of today, and he has not yet responded, then I will accept your bid. I just need to know how you want to make this happen. (9/10/2006)
Question: Hello, Ok... I will submit a bid for $1800.00 to be paid the day we unload your fire truck. I can pick it up, either Thursday - Saturday (Sept 14-16). Depending on what day I pick it up I will have it to you 2-3 days latter. Will There be help loading, if the fire truck is still on your friends GN trailer I can back right up to it and drive it on my trailer. I will have my 30 footer 3 axle 21klbs pound trailer. When you accept my bid you will have my contact info, just call me and we will make this happen for you. Thanks, Bill S. (9/10/2006)
Question: Hello i can use the book-it-now but I would like to know when you would like to have it picked up? I would like to pick it on the week of the 25th if this would work for you. PLease take the time to view my feedback. IT speaks for its self. Thanks RodL (9/10/2006)
