Question: Just an FYI, always be sure to use a USDOT COMPLIANT transporter! This is easy to check, just go to http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov choose carrier search in menu and enter the MC# or USDOT#! Mine can be found on my USHIP profile. Any compliant carrier should have no problem producing these upon request! Check the" Authorities" column it should state Common Authority: ACTIVE. Also check to see that BIPD and CARGO Insurance are on FILE and ACTIVE. Last of all, in the Authority History box it should state GRANTED under "Original Action". If it says anything else or nothing at all, BUYER BEWARE! Just some friendly advice that could save lots of time and costly IMPOUNDMENT!!!! (6/24/2008)

Question: If you have an opportunity, please review the following federal government website. Giving this site is allowed per Uship rules. http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/safety-security/eta/part390.htm states over 10,000# combination, which is vehicle gross sticker + trailer gross sticker. At that weight rating (which is not the scale weight of truck and boat but the sticker gross weight) transporters need MC# & DOT #. This is not legal advice just what the federal government puts into law, and so you may be informed on transport regulations pertaining to transport of your boat.
