Additional Information: There are 13 pallets of dog food I'm trying to move for our non-profit animal rescue. I'm not sure what a pallet measures, so I put the approx. dimensions of what I think 1 pallet would be. Coming from a warehouse w/loading dogs, etc. to a place with fork lift/pallet jack. Estimate weight is 13,000lbs (1k per pallet approx.) Report a Violation

Questions for this shipment:

Question: from your dimensions...are all 13 pallets 4x4 at 1000lbs each or total? Please provide total weight. Thanks for the bid request (7/18/2008)
Response: Total weight is estimated to be about 13,000lbs ALTOGETHER. 13 pallets each weighing approx. 1,000 each. Since I'm unfamiliar with dimensions of the pallets, it is a standard width/length pallet. Loading dock at Nestle-Purina warehouse, with loaders at loading dock to load it for trucker. Upon arrival here, we'll have forklift to take off truck and into storage unit. This is donated food to us, a non-profit org. So if you give us a great deal, you may write off any charge you typically would charge as a tax write off. Thanks! Donna (7/18/2008)
Question: Hello, I have a 24ft. Box Truck and could possibly transport these for you. It would depend on the size of the pallets of course, but if you're interested I could transport as many as will fit @ $100 per pallet. I'll be through Davenport on Monday. Let me know. Thanks! Chris (7/18/2008)
Response: I appreciate your offer, however, $100 per pallet is way over what I had hoped for. On the pick up end, loaders are loading it straight on and are pros at doing it, and at the delivery point, we aren't pros, but still have have the truck unloaded in a relatively fast time since we have a forklift to take it all off and down. Sorry. Just as a rescue, I have to do this as cheaply as possible. I realize diesel is $5+/- a gallon, but we are only about 360 miles from starting to finish point. Last problem is that the transport logistic person at the ware house will not be in on Monday, :-(. Thanks, Donna (7/18/2008)
Response: The problem is I have a 24' moving truck and 13,000 lbs. will reduce my fuel economy in half to about 3 miles to a gallon that is nearly 700.00 in fuel alone. I am going that way so if you like I will take two pallets for 125.00. That wouldn't effect the fuel that much. But I would still need to pick it up Monday. I can't wait any longer than that. (7/19/2008)
Response: I don't know if we can get 2 pallets to the loading floor with the person in charge of our donated food not in. So I guess I'd have to decline, unless I can get a hold of someone there early Monday morning. Donna (7/19/2008)
Response: I have decided to leave a day earlier . I am sorry I can't help you. (7/20/2008)
Response: Thank you though. Donna (7/20/2008)
Question: Good morning. We would like to move all 13 pallets to save you time and money. We will be departing Indiana Sunday July 20th and would like to pick up the items on Monday th 21st. On our way to Indiana we shipped a 1964 Corvair to Detroit, an industrial machine to a rural Michigan farm, and a hot tub to the Chicago suburbs. All of those shippers have already left feedback. Please see our feedback for details. We are new to Uship and will give you a really good deal for the sake of earning your positive feedback. We have a goal to reach 10 feedback as soon as possible which will enable us to exercise the "book it now" feature on Uship. We have authority from the federal government to provide "for-hire" transporting in 48 out of the 50 United States and we carry $1,000,000 in liability insurance. We insure customer's items up to $50,000 at no charge to the customer. Please let us know ASAP if we can count on this job once we work out a price. Thanks, SAG Industries Inc. (7/19/2008)
Response: I don't see a price, lol. Here's my problem. I just got notified that the person in charge of my disbursement will not be in on Monday. I don't know if there is anyone in her place but I will check. If this presents a problem for you, let me know. I didn't know this was going to be the case till I called her phone and got that message. Let me know if this makes it not workable for you or what. Thanks, Donna (who has no problem leaving you feed back) (7/19/2008)
Response: Hello Donna, My name is Erin. It would be both my husband and me picking up the load, and Jerry is experienced at driving a forklift, so we could load ourselves if one is available. Would it be possible for him to use the forklift to load the dog food onto our truck and trailer on Monday? We have a shorter trailer hooked to our power unit right now, which gives us 24 feet of bed to load on. With that said, we can fit 12 pallets without stacking, but may need to unpack the 13th pallet and stack the bags on top of the other pallets. We have measured a standard pallet and our bed space already. It looks like others want to do the job for $100 per pallet and are not willing to take it all at once, which would cause you to take the time to unload more than once. With that said, we can do the job for $75 per pallet or $975 total -- pickup on Monday, dropoff on Tuesday. Are you willing to commit the job to us by accepting an official bid at $975? Please let us know asap. (7/19/2008)
Response: Hi Erin, Thanks for the offer, however, forklifting it on is NOT the problem. See, this is Purina's factory /warehouse. The food has to be brought to the floor for loading. To get that, the person in charge (and has the authorization to move that allotment of food) of the 'donation' load isn't in, and therefore I don't see how we can get the food to the loading floor to begin with. We've had only ONE other bid of $100 a pallet, which exceeds the avg. bid for this weight and distance by nearly double (go to the 'estimator'). I can't see doing this for $1300. $600, $700 would be pushing it. All that is being done is backing a rig to a docking station, waiting for it to be loaded, drive the 360 miles, and go to another unit and wait for us to unload it and go. Any amount over the amount we ultimately pay that is fair market can be deducted for tax purposes as we are a non-profit organization. I don't know what else to say. I wish the days were different, that's for sure. Donna (7/19/2008)
Response: We wish we could help you out, and we probably would have done it for $700, but we have to be back in Kansas Tuesday. Thanks anyhow. SAG Industries Incorporated (7/19/2008)
Response: Let me see if I can get a hold of someone first thing Monday morning who can release the pallets. Otherwise, yes, its sad to say you can't help me. What time is the latest on Monday the load can be done? Donna (7/19/2008)
Response: Hi Donna, we can pick up as late as 10 pm on Monday if need be. Or we can stay in Davenport and pick up first thing Tuesday morning, but please try for Monday afternoon if at all possible because of the situation explained in the previous message. We are getting ready to submit the official bid. We need to know one more thing -- do you know if the dog food is contained in bags or containers within the pallets? What is the size of the individual bags or containers? We need to know because we may have to open a couple of pallets to fit them in with our other cargo. As long as we can spread out some of the dog food, we can take it all in one shipment -- we are well under our weight capacity, but a little short on bed space. We may need to unwrap up to 3 pallets and spread the bags over the tops of the others. If we can do this, we can take all 13 pallets, no problem. Thanks, SAG Industries Incorporated (7/20/2008)
Response: They are all bags of food shrunk wrapped on pallets. Varied sizes, but they said they tried to give me the bigger bags. They can range from small bags of 7 lbs up to 40lb bags. So yes you can break open a pallet or two to spread on top of the others if need be. Again, this is all ok with me based on the warehouse's ability to put the load on the floor in time to meet your time frame. Thanks! Donna (7/20/2008)
Response: Great -- now we know we can do this for sure! If tomorrow just isn't possible, we will make it on Tuesday morning. Please accept our bid tonight and call us tomorrow with the details of pickup. We are presently driving westbound on I-80 and will be pulling off soon now that we know we are making a stop in Davenport. We appreciate your quick responses -- you have been great to work with so far. Once we pick up your order we will give you regular updates by phone. We hope you will give us glowing feedback when this is said and done. :) Thanks, SAG Industries Incorporated (7/20/2008)
Response: Ok, thanks. Donna (7/20/2008)
Question: How soon do you need this done..If you can wait untill the week of August 8 thru 12 i can do it for $800..Thanks Howard (7/19/2008)
Response: I would love to wait, but don't think we can wait that long. Let me know if you can do it at all this month instead..and if you'd do it for $650 or so? Just need the rig and the driver. The loading and unloading will be done for you. Donna (7/19/2008)
Question: Donna, We will accommodate you on this shipment if you can call first thing Monday morning and arrange the loading of the pallets at the dog food factory. We can wait as late as 5pm on Monday for loading --waiting for a 2nd shift logistics person to come on. If we have to, but hope you can avoid this from happening, we can spend the night in Iowa and load as early as possible Tuesday morning. Now, considering we have spent so much time already in typing messages to each other, will you commit this job to us and accept our bid right away today? Please let us know ASAP because we are waiting in limbo and need to get back west soon. We do appreciate your time and hope to do business with you. Check out feedback, we work hard to satisfy the customer and keep excellent contact through route updates via cell phone. We have 24-hour internet in our truck also. Lastly, is the dog food in bags or containers and how many estimated containers or bags per pallet? Thanks, SAG Industries Incorpo (7/20/2008)
Response: I will accept your offer of $700 to do the job TENTATIVE of me speaking with the ware house FIRST thing in the morninig. If for some reason we can't get loaded in your time frame (preferably Monday morning or early afternoon, I will contact you ASAP to let you know and continue on without our cargo. Donna (7/20/2008)
Response: Hi Donna, We saw your message come in, so we imagine you're still on-line. We are going to submit a bid for $700 in a few minutes. It is important that you accept our bid as soon as possible so we know that we can count on this job. This is because we will be waiting and staying at a hotel until we can pick up the load. If need be, we will wait until Tuesday morning to pick up the load, but please try to arrange it for Monday afternoon because we have a drop in Malcom, IA scheduled for 6 pm Monday, about 2 hours west of Davenport. If we have to pick up on Tuesday, we will try to reschedule, or else we would have to backtrack. We appreciate your business and look for your acceptance of our bid. Thanks, SAG Industries Incorporated (7/20/2008)
Response: Will do! And I'll call you first thing in the morning with any news (be it have to decline or go ahead)! Thanks! Donna (7/20/2008)
Response: Hi Donna, That sounds good. But if you didn't already know, Uship will not allow us to give you our contact information, including phone number, until you accept our bid. You would need to accept our bid tonight (and pay a deposit to Uship) to call us tomorrow. You could send us a message via Uship like you've been doing -- we'll be on-line tomorrow. Just to make sure we're on the same page, a pickup on Tuesday morning is definitely possible if it doesn't work out for Monday. Is this correct? Submitting a bid now... SAG Industries Incorporated (7/20/2008)
Response: I know (re:contact info and uship) and I will accept your bid. Donna (7/20/2008)
