Question: Hello. What is your time frame on shipping? I can load this onto my trailer for transport. I have a load going to Edmonton early next week. Look forward to your reply. Thank you. (6/3/2009)

Response: Hi
The only time frame that I have is Ritchies request to get it out of the yard by the 9th . Edmonton would be great . It does not matter when it gets there. Do you have a location to unload in Edmonton? (6/3/2009)

Response: I can deliver this directly into Shellbrook. I could pick this up on Tuesday the 9th. Would be loaded onto my trailer. Let me know if this would work. Thank you. (6/3/2009)

Response: Hi
That would be great . If there is a big price difference between delivery to Shellbrook or Edmonton please let me know . Thank you (6/3/2009)

Response: $2400 delivered to Shellbrook. Let me know if that is acceptable. Thank you. (6/3/2009)

Response: Hi
I will have to keep looking a little while longer for something cheaper. If you have any other drop off points any where in this direction that would save me some money ,please let me know ,thank you . (6/3/2009)

Response: What are you looking for on Price? I did a trailer like this from Vegas to Saskatoon for $2100 2 weeks ago. Let me know. Thank you. (6/3/2009)

Response: Hi
First of all ,thank you for your patience, I have never shipped or booked anything before and wanted to go through the process before I started buying other items . Ritchies have a price estimator that is way below this price at $1090.I thought they would be reasonably close to what it costs to ship . So I am just a little surprised to see the real cost to ship a $750 trailer . I am currently lining up the papers to import and in the meantime if you can think of any other alternatives which could save some money ,please let me know . Once again thank you for your time .
P.S. Just curious to know if you have had any other experience with Ritchie Bros. shipping estimates and if they are all that far off. Thanks again. (6/3/2009)

Response: OK. There estimator is $.83 mile based on that price and mileage. If you pulling this trailer behind your truck I'm not sure how anyone could make money hauling for $.83 mile. If you load this onto a trailer then it takes up half the trailer if not more. Second your trailer is an international shipment which ends up costing more. Us Carriers take into account the added cost of shipping into Canada along with the time it takes to clear customs, etc. Just cause the trailer cost $750 doesn't mean the shipping should be in line with the cost of the goods. Wish I could help you out put everyone has to make money and this is pretty close to half a load on my truck. You also need to take into account the cost of a customs broker. That will run between $100-$250 and then you will have 5% GST tax to go along with it. (6/3/2009)

Response: Hi
I know you must be busy but I hope you have a sense of humor if I tell you Idaho did not look that far away when a trailer I wanted was selling for $750. I would use 250 gallons of gas driving my 1/2 ton there to pick it up .
I must attend to kids for the afternoon . Thank you for your prompt responses and I will be in touch tomorrow . (6/3/2009)

Response: I hear you on that part. Here is how the transport costs are broken down. Insurance for the truck & cargo run $800 month. Then you have the maintenance on the truck, depreciation on the truck, hours involved in driving, US border customs fee, overhead, workers comp, health insurance, utilities (phone, internet, etc). It's always cheaper for someone to pick up the load themselves as they look @ the hard cost (usually fuel). We have to factor in all the other items. Sorry the shipping cost is coming @ such a surprise. I haul for Ritchie Brothers a lot. Kinda wish they didn't use that estimator as it really isn't accurate. (6/3/2009)
