While uShip collects and provides information necessary for making a wise decision about a transporter, customers must do their own research and use their common sense when engaging in this type of transaction. This will protect you, your family and your possessions. For example, wiring $15,000 to a transporter in advance for a shipment defies common sense, yet, unfortunately, people unwittingly do so. The bottom line – if something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.

ProtectYourMove.gov, a government website created to inform people of their rights and responsibilities when moving goods, has provided this important “to do” list to help you select the right mover for you:

1. Do your research
   uShip has packaged up key information such as providers’ business profiles, past customer reviews and feedback scores. A higher rating generally means a transport company is more experienced, perhaps even a uShip Power Carrier. All transporters’ customer stories are left by real-life customers, so these are a must-read.
2. Ask questions
   Before accepting a bid, feel free to contact transporters through the Q&A boards and within Bid Details with specific questions about their service. Keep in mind that asking a question in no way obligates you to use that Service Provider.
3. Evaluate all bids
   The lowest price doesn’t always mean it’s the best bid. A slightly higher price might come from a more experienced provider or may be better suited to your needs. The more flexible your pickup and delivery dates, route and needs, the better the quotes you’ll likely receive.
4. Feel comfortable with your decision
   If after accepting a bid you are not entirely comfortable with your Service Provider, you can cancel the transaction prior to pickup, and the full amount that you paid via uShip will be credited to your uShip account. The credit is valid for 1 year from the date your shipment was cancelled and is available for you to use on your next uShip shipment transaction. If you would prefer a refund over an account credit you can contact the uShip support team for assistance. Also, remember that you are free to accept any bid from any Service Provider, or none at all.

   Your transaction is backed by uShip’s “Ship with Confidence” guarantee, which means each and every transaction is automatically covered up to $500 when uShip’s guarantee guidelines are followed.
