I am a private shipper that tries to recoup fuel costs on my automotive hobby purchases from other states by hauling shipments for you. Many times shipment will be available for a lower price than other shippers, but at the inconvenience of an awkward pick up or delivery hour. I normally drive straight through to my destination (there is another driver so we drive in shifts if the trip is long). There is no unloading of the shipment to staging areas. It is loaded at pickup and unloaded shortly after at the destination. Care in loading and unloading your shipment and protecting it en route is of the most importance to me, as this allows me to continue hauling to alleviate my own costs.
