Shipper did not secure machine in truck and destroyed it in transit. U-Ship told me I had $10,000 insurance on the shipment but shipper denied the claim (as I have been told they always do). When threatened by lawyers with lawsuit, they said they were limited to $50 per pound ($1,100 on a $2,700 loss) and still kept the transit fee. We have just filed a lawsuit in the state of NH against New England Motor Freight and this consolidator (U-Ship). This has gone on a year with no resolution.

Response from freight101: This shipment was not properly packaged. Commercial carriers do not provide wrapping and strapping services. This is the responsibility of the shipper; not the carrier. Commercial freight carriers should not be confused with moving companies. They move freight that is secured and protected on skids or in crates or boxes. When I mentioned this to the shipper beforehand, they said "the freight could not be damaged". The carrier was willing to offer a settlement to appease customer.
