I move sailboats. With a background in racing (great lakes), cruising and living aboard (off the coast of Florida now), my life has been doing something with boats almost daily for the last 24 years. I have a captains’ license earned from sea time on vessels 27-65 feet. That’s what I’ve done; that’s what I do. I don’t have a gazillion ton license gotten as a cooks assistant on a cruise ship. Be wary of those who do. Regarding in-water delivery vs. trucking: If time is not on your side, I say go with the big rigs. Last week a client told me about following a truck hauling a boat on the highway; watching the hull flexing with wild abandon. That spells gelcoat issues that may not vest for months but may cost dearly down the road. So if you want your girls’ hull supported properly like the boat gods intended, leave her in the water; leave her stick up and let us get her where she needs to go.
