After 35yrs as a sheet metal engineer and contractor, I suffered a downturn in business starting in 2008. Using equipment already in my inventory, I began filling idle time by taking on freight assignments in the metals industry. Based in the Deep South, I have carried urgent commercial freight to California, New England and the upper Midwest. Uship helps me avoid dead-heading back to Georgia. Therefore, I am very selective. You will not see hundreds of matches in my Uship profile. But, I can back-haul at about half the price of the hot-shot trips outbound. (Vice versa with inbound primary.) Most trips will be with my 32ft 7-ton Big Tex custom gooseneck trailer. I can comfortably carry 8,500#. Although I prefer machine-loaded commercial freight, my trailer has fold-over ramps for rolling loads. I have DOT-typical insurance set at $750K. My main assets are good communication, punctuality and speed, inbound or outbound. A perfect customer satisfaction record is my goal.
