I found myself in possession of a very interesting bit of gaming history - a diorama used to 'fake' 3d for a game created before computers had 3d acceleration. The problem - I had to figure out shipping myself, from across the Atlantic.
I found that UPS had affordable shipping and a drop-off location close by where it needed to be picked up. I thought surely there had to be companies out there that could pack it up and take it to the drop location... and happily, found some! They claimed to be packing companies at least. I have no idea what they actually do, because every one I contacted for a quote told me they couldn't pack things... even ones that specifically advertised 'Let us pack your antiques and fragile items for you!'. Yeah. Funny, that.
Anywho, I decided to go for broke and try out uship... and within hours I had 10 quotes! I wound up going with one who wasn't the lowest bidder, but had the highest ratings.
Let's just say everything beyond shipping to UPS fell through, and this person was right on top of it to make sure all changes in plans went through, going as far as to taking the alternate recipient of the item to her house to ensure it would work... and had a back up plan ready when it didn't. I have no idea what would have happened had I picked someone else, but I have never met a more honest, competent, or friendly person... even with only being able to communicate through email. This is the best service I have ever had from anyone, ever, and I can not thank him enough.
Thank you, Terry and uship!
