I had used another shipper in the summer who way underestimated the size of my load and to help me out, kept about a quarter of my possessions...out on his porch and in his house and on a trailer and just disappeared. See previous complaint to Uship about same mover but no Uship contract was involved that time. I went back to the city and found him at Mommy's and asked for my stuff.
After 16 days and a phone call from a detective who got invovlved..(warning: if you use a mover, and they keep your stuff, you have to sue in a civil court to recover any losses, that is if there is anything to sue for...)I got my stuff dumped into a storage locker. This was a mover I had met and used 2 times already.
So use Uship for the legal protection.
If you don't the mover has the upper hand, and all of your worldy stuff.
This is a really difficult business and Uship has found a way to help keep the
door open for good people to provide good service. My new mover was a much better business. Regular contact with me, and they pulled no punches.
And if they had, I think Uship must pay the legal fees and then whether or not your recover any money for your loss is something I hope I never have to find out.
