After 6 years of living on the East Coast, I was ready to move on. I quit my job, and decided to move to the West Coast in November. I suddenly found myself with more stuff than I cared to own.
One of the things I needed to get rid of was my motorcycle. I posted my bike on various classified sites, and internet forums, but selling a motorcycle in November in the Washington, DC area is next to impossible. After posting the bike for sale for about 3 months, all of the offers I received were either lowball offers or no response at all.
I then looked up shipping options to see if it was worthwhile to keep it and take it with me to California. I found out that riding in CA is pretty much year round, and there are plenty of places to ride! I looked up quotes for various shippers and the average I was getting was about 750 to 800 bucks. I read about Uship through one of the motorcycle boards, and decided to give it a shot.
I created an account, profile, and uploaded pics of my bike and the price at which I would want to pay to have my bike shipped. I waited a couple of days and a few bids. After researching the feedback from the providers, I accepted an offer from Paposteve for $620, who had excellent feedback and a very nice rig.
Steve showed up the next week around the scheduled time, and even drove through the night and showed up at my doorstep at 3 am, risking his own life just to come pick up my bike. He loaded up my precious Suzuki SV650s onto his truck and even took extras such as a couple jackets, full leather track suit, and a couple of helmets.
After I moved to Oakland, I was a little worried about my bike since I did not hear from him, nor was the tracking updated frequently enough. I emailed him once to check on him, and he responded promptly stating that he would be there on the agreed time. Sure enough, on the agreed date, he showed up with my bike and all of my goodies.
I would definitely use Uship, and especially paposteve in the future!
