Before finding uShip and posting my request, I had already done a lot of searching and made a lot of calls. I wanted to ship a family heirloom--a 19th Century antique chest of drawers that had belonged to my dad--across the country, from the Washington DC area to Southern California.
Everyone I spoke with offered prices that were so prohibitive, I began to wonder if it was really worth it to me. But to have it sold at auction, or on eBay, would have netted pennies on the dollar of the appraised value, and I couldn't bear to do that because of the sentimental value of the piece.
Then I found uShip. I posted the shipping request, along with photos and measurements. Semper Fi was the first to reply, and after receiving about a half dozen more bids (all of which were much lower than quotes I had received during my phone search), Semper Fi had not only been the first, but they were the best price, and communicated very well right from the start.
I asked a question and got a quick, straight-forward reply. We communicated back and forth a couple of times about some specific timing needs that I had, and Semper Fi's Mike Frears was able to meet my every need.
But the proof is in the pudding. Some might make promises to get the job, but Mike Frears was true to his word. He kept in touch, worked with me through a last-minute snag on the pick-up end in Bethesda, and then arrived a few days ahead of schedule in the LA area. He communicated along the way, always friendly, with updates of his progress.
By the time delivery day arrived, I was looking forward to the arrival of my chest of drawers, but also looking forward to finally meeting Michael Frears, who had become a partner in my shipping project and even a friend over the course of the previous few weeks. He arrived on time, went straight to work, and was courteous and professional.
I would definitely use Semper Fi Haulers again, and I can comfortably give Micheal Frears an A+. Good job, Michael! Thanks!
