We have been doing alot of redecorating at the house - turning the guest room into a new baby room. Somehow I didnt think my new baby boy would have alot of use for my mother's antique makeup table. :) Sending the makeup table to my sister, who has two daughters, was easily the right choice. All three of them have an interest in the table, as we all have fond memories of Mom/Grandma sitting at the table to apply her makeup and perfume.
It wasn't a large piece, but still too big to fit easily in the back of a car, and we didn't have any plans to drive up to visit for a long time. My two year old makes driving long distances a "challenge".
We checked into traditional shipment methods, but it was hard to get a quote without giving out our full name and address and email address, opening ourselves up to every spam and mailing list sale on the face of the earth. I saw uShip.com and thought I'd check it out. It was easy to use - similar to eBay - and I liked that I could keep my contact information private until I chose a provider.
Once we received a couple of bids, I did check some of the traditional providers for a price comparison, and found that the uShip prices were more than competitive. The lowest bid on uShip was only $10 more than it would cost to rent a uHaul trailer to take it myself. We took another look at uShip, and with Creative Moving's excellent feedback ratings we decided it was a no-brainer to select them.
The antique table arrived safely and snugly at my sister's place, and the personal attention of Creative Moving was really super. They were very personable and responsive, and I was really glad that I chose them to trust the table with.
I would definitely use uShip again and recommend it to friends. It was a great experience overall, and made a relatively small move really affordable and stress-free.
