I had a small amount of items to ship to Oregon from California. I didn't need a Uhaul and didn't want to drive a rental. I was able to ship my 90 cubic feet of items easily and inexpensively by advertising to share a truck delivering to Oregon. I gave a range of dates and accepted a bid from a small shipper that had space. It couldn't have been easier!
