We had a load of milled cedar planks and beams to be sent to my house in Maine from my son's property in Maple Falls, WA. I used U-ship on the his advice. (I had no idea of its existence or how to approach arranging shipment) We put a guarenteed price of $2100 for the load. I first posted on U-ship on the 4th of july weekend. The only bids we got were from large companies and were around $3500 to $3800, even though I had put a Maximum amount of $3500. Later in the week the bids started lowering to the high $2000 range. When there were a few for $2350 or so I thought that was pretty good and was about to accept one, but I had some errands to do. When I got back I was very pleasantly surprised to fine that my guarenteed price had been met. We made the arrangements and the wood was picked up and delivered in a very reasonable time.
