Question:
4/5/2012
I am actively seeking a haul to the Winnipeg area from Alberta. I have a confirmed haul from Winnipeg back to BC and I am stuck in the middle. One shipper is slow as molasses with his reponses and I have submitted a final bid to him. This is a little further than anticipated but it still gets me close to where I need to be. Would a date sometime around the 17th of April work alright for you? If it does, I may head to the Stony Plain to pick the items up and bring them back to Calgary, this will save me time when I am headed east from Vancouver. This is only a partial load so right now the estimate is sitting a little on the high side. If I can find another small haul to fill the trailer then it would definitely bring the estimate down. Do you have a budget to work with for this haul? Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance.Report a Violation
Response: I need the items to be picked up before April 21 due to the folks at Stoney Plain are leaving for 2 weeks. I have other items i will be purchasing at the Ritchie bro. auction on April 24 that i will need picked up after the 24. If you could do these pick ups on the different dates then i will fill the rest of your load. I am looking at forks for a skid steer and attachment plates for skid steers. Do you know what these items look like? i can get auction lot pictures for you if needed.4/5/2012Report a Violation
Response: : I do indeed know what these items look like, we have a pair of Bobcats ourself. I can most certainly pick up the items in Stoney Plain in a timely manner. We live on a rural acreage, lots of room to keep the items here and no worries about them growing legs either. We would store them in our garage until the second lot is ready for pickup. I am familiar with Ritchie Bros. and their loadout procedures. I was in Nisku 2 weeks ago for a haul to the BC lower mainland. We primarily haul on the weekends after the weather turn nice and we go back to full time seasonal work. Is this something that would work for you? My Winnipeg haul is confirmed and I will be there before your dates, I am sure another return haul can be located in this timeframe though. Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance.4/5/2012Report a Violation
Response: What price do you have?4/5/2012Report a Violation
Response: : My estimate would land around the $2200.00 mark. All cargo is fully insured to a maximum value of $100,000.00. All items would need to fit inside a 8.5x20' enclosed cargo trailer. I am not the most expensive hauler around, nor will I be the cheapest. I only bid on certain hauls as I cannot be everywhere at once. I do not cancel shipments and I do not have multiple bids underway where I accept the biggest one and leave the other people stranded. I am very fair wiht my estimate and bids. There is a 6 hour drive for me to pick up the first items and then store them here in Calgary (no charge on storage and it beats Ritchie Bros. socking it to you with storage fees. The second lot you are looking for would be take all items with me, load the new ones in Nisku and shoot for Regina on the first day. Does this work for you? Rob.4/5/2012Report a Violation
Response: What is the quote for the first shipment i listed. It is probably the only shipment i need right now.4/5/2012Report a Violation
Response: : It would really not be that much less. Granted the weight will change some, not drastically though and I am not hauling over 4 mountain ranges that I can tell you each and every corner. It would shave off 600 km, 1.25 tanks of fuel, about $250.00 overall. I was giving you my time at no charge for the Calgary - Nisku - Calgary run already, just the fuel expenses and proportionate vehicle expenses (insurance, maintenance etc.). It may well be worth having me get the items and sit on them for you until you see your results at the next auction. Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance.4/5/2012Report a Violation
Question:
4/5/2012
David, I now have a confirmed haul to Pine Falls, MB. Is there any chance that you would want to meet me there? It is a 4 hour drive for you. Price would drop to $1000.00. Items would need to be in the back of my one ton and in the trailer. I will have room. There is also a small chance that I will have a motorbike on board headed to Port Frances, you could meet me at the highway 1 / highway 17 junction. $1300.00 to that point. I am due in Pine Falls on the 17th if road conditions are favourable. I would need to head to Stoney Plain this weekend. Please advise. Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance. Not in Violation
Response: What day would you be at the Hwy 17 juction? This would mean a separate delivery for the 24th auction. Can you do any better. It means i would have to get a trailer. I am in Nova Scotia right now and won't be home untill the 14th. I do have people that can meet you there.4/6/2012Not in Violation
Response: : I am anticipating the 17-18th of April, it will be dependent upon road conditions in the mountains as I will be coming from BC on the 15-16th. It is avalanche time in the passes right now, and there are lots of pitfalls on the roads there at this time of year. I will only head to the junction if I land the bike haul to Port Frances. I would go as low as $1600 to the exact dropoff point and then face the wrath of the wife for being away an extra day. I would be running empty all the way back to Winterpeg, not exactly ideal but I can make this work for you. 4/6/2012Report a Violation
Response: What would the price be to meet in Winnipeg, I do believe i have an auction in Winnipeg about that time, 17-18 april. If the price is right it may work.4/6/2012Report a Violation
Response: : I am actively seeking a load like this or another bike to fill the last of my space available. It is a fair price I am offering and it will accommodate you at the same time. I would head to Stoney Plain tomorrow for pickup. I do need to solidify things in a timely manner as I am headed to northern BC soon, then to the BC lower mainland. There is slim to no cell reception for most of my trip. If you would like me to place my bid for acceptance, please respond and I will do so. Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business. Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance.4/6/2012Report a Violation
Response: : Price would drop back down to $1000.00 for dropoff in Winnipeg. Ideally it would ou could meet me where I will be loading if possible. I need to turn and burn once I hit Winnipeg. I already have to hit 3 places in Winnipeg to pick up a car and parts to head back to Vancouver Island it. Please be aware as well that I cannot confirm my timeline due to unknown road conditions. I would leave the delivery time somewhat open. Rob.4/6/2012Report a Violation
Response: Where do you have to pick up the car, maybe my load could be dropped there if i know the place.4/6/2012Report a Violation
Response: : It is a private residence. I would not want to put the client in that kind of position unfortunately. I am good meeting at other locations if we need to. I have 3 places to go to in Winnipeg, might as well make it 4.4/6/2012Report a Violation
Question:
4/6/2012
Hi David, I have a 24' enclosed trailer coming back from Alberta to Ontario around the 13th-14th of April, if you can work with those dates I can move these for you for $900. Joe/LombardiHaulage.Report a Violation
Response: Is that with all taxes and so on? When would you be able to pick up goods? The date will work for me so enter a bid with the delivery date around 13-14. I will be just getting back from Nova Scotia on the 13th. If you were to drop on the 13th i would need to know what time before we proceed. I can be back by noon that day but need to know what time of day to make it work. Thanks, Dave4/6/2012Report a Violation
Response: : Hi Dave, I should have specified, I will be leaving Alberta around the 13th(weather permitting of course)and start my haul back to Ontario, which would take 3-4 days. The total on the haul would be $1021 for everything. A quick question about the load, 1 item is a C420 MIG welder and the other is 4 tires, how big is each tire in diameter and width(just trying to see how much space I will have left in the 24' trailer...thanks,Joe/LombardiHaulage4/6/2012Report a Violation
Response: the diameter of each tire is about 66 inches and about 24 inches wide. If you could come down on your price we may have a deal. You first quoted $900.00. I wouldn't expect it to go up. Dave4/6/2012Report a Violation

Question:
4/6/2012
Hi David, willing to go the extra mile for you and drop of to Oxdrift. I have a chance to head to Edmonton tomorrow so I would be able to pick the items up. I will come in at $1000 to your door, all charges included. This is more than fair for you. Mig welder can sit on my backseat for the trip back to Calgary, I want some more info on the tires, appears that there are 5 overall according to the pics. It is the tractor tires that I really want the info on. This will tell me if I am bringing my trailer with me or if they will fit in the back of my 1 ton's 8 foot box or drop the tailgate and secure in for the trip to Calgary. Please advise. I am headed to Edmonton as they just happen to have the vehicle in stock that I was going to order. Rob.Report a Violation
Question:
4/6/2012
Hi David, it appears that another hauler has been flagging me on my posts in order to try and keep me from bidding or staying on the site. Way not cool and I will not speculate as to who it may be. I submitted a bid in good faith and in line with our previous discussion. As I first said, I am a fair shipper and I stick to my word, no games to be played with hiking prices, followed up with a bid just to see them drop when another quote is placed. Ethics are a huge part of how I do business and I will not play games with my client. I will place a new and final bid for this haul. I will place my bid once I hear from you with your thoughts, as it is late already here in AB, it may be morning before I get your reply. Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business. Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance. Report a Violation
Question:
4/6/2012
I also would like to know what you paid on the 8.5x18' trailer for your other listing. We are about to order a new gooseneck cargo trailer and they are outrageous for pricing locally. I may have a haul slated from SC that I would have room on my flatdeck for. If I do, I will be submitting a bid to you for it. Rob.Not in Violation
Response: I paid $3500.004/7/2012Not in Violation
Response: : David, perhaps you will agree with me as it seems comments were directed towards me specifically, a 60 year old business should know better than to belittle a competitor especially when they really have no idea about them. At this stage of the game I will take the high road and remove myself from this listing. There is a quote here that is well below the cost to make this haul by the time cargo insurance, vehicle insurance, fuel and all expenses are covered. There is lots of new hauls every day. If however you would like me to place a qualified "landscaper guy with a truck" bid, I would be pleased to do so and deliver the results that you are looking for. Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business, Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance.4/7/2012Not in Violation
Response: Hi Rob; I am not sure what you mean by your question. Are you meaning that i made comments about you? If there is a competitor that is causing you grief i am not sure who it is. I am looking for a shipment to be made and not looking to get caught up in a shippers dispute. If we can do business it will be between us for i discuss our business with no one. You have an excellent track record and that is what i look at. If there is any problem with me then i suggest you make it. Dave4/7/2012Not in Violation
Response: : Thanks for the reply Dave. There is absolutely no issues with you at all, some reading will clarify things should you want the entertainment that comes free. I am headed to Edmonton to buy another truck shortly as they have it in stock. As such I will lower my bid for you in respect to the tank of diesel that I will no longer need to cover on the drive to and from Stoney Plain to pick up your items. Further to that, I have a return haul lined up to Medicine Hat from Duncan on Vancouver Island about 2 weeks from now. I can always grab your items in Stoney Plain now, store them here and wait for the results of the next auction that you are bidding at. I can then load the trailer and the truck and head east all the way to you with items from both auctions. My quote for you for the haul as it stands with only this listing to your door will be $875.00 or to Winnipeg at $750.00. For the haul in a couple weeks time, lets get the auction results first. Either one works for me. Rob Atkinson.4/7/2012Report a Violation
Response: If you would do the shipment for the $875.00 and that would include the small items i am looking at in the upcoming auction then we will have a deal. I am looking at a set of pallet forks which will fit under the tires and take up no room at all. The other thing is an attachment plate which is 2 inches x 36 inches x 18 inches. Then you could haul it in a couple weeks. i know it is a little confusing on my shipment because the folks that picked up my stuff at the last auction are leaving for Mexico. If we have a deal i will get you the correct address in Stoney Plain. Dave.4/7/2012Report a Violation
Response: : I can come close but no banana. As I mentioned I am headed to Edmonton in the next 2 days to pick out the new truck we need. As such I can pick up the items already there and bring them down here at no charge to you and store them here as a courtesy. The second auction items would require 6 hours of driving time and the tank of fuel. I will eat the time but need to charge the tank of fuel. This means back to the $1000 mark, all items delivered to your door. I do not have a primary haul past Medicine Hat on this trip nor a return haul lined up from back east yet so I am really hanging my butt out in the wind here. I am a very fair person and make my bids logically. I am a man of my word and if we can make this deal, I will make it happen. Rob.4/7/2012Report a Violation
Response: My apology, i was thinking that you resided in the Edmonton area and that is why i thought it would not cost you anymore for another pick up. my misunderstanding. Which area do you live for i can bid on auctions in that area. With that being said i would not worry about a return trip to Edmonton. Dave If you want to list your bid then we can proceed. Dave4/7/2012Report a Violation
Response: : I live in Okotoks, 15 minutes south of Calgary. To clarify, I am listing a new bid at $875.00 for the items in this listing. I am not placing a new bid at $1000 for these items and the future items. Just so we are crystal clear on things.4/7/2012Report a Violation
Response: Quite clear. Thank you. Dave4/7/2012Report a Violation
Response: : I have placed a new and final bid. I will not be able to go lower than this amount as this would take it into money losing territory. As it sits now, it aids with expenses only and nothing left for me. If I had a driver for the route that I needed to pay a wage to, I would not be able to make this bid at all. This is how fine the line is. Please accept my bid so that I can plan my day to pickup the items and solidify my haul. Rob Atkinson, Dewinton Maintenance.4/8/2012Report a Violation
Question:
4/7/2012
Hi David, I submitted a new bid $900 all-in that included all fees, to keep competitive with other bids (because thats how an auction works O_o) and wanted to reassure you I was not trying to just "hike" my price up. When you had asked "Is that with all taxes and so on?", I tried my best to elaborate and wish Our company has strictly been in the haulage business for almost 60 years(not just some landscaping guy with a truck) and we pride ourselves on conducting as such. I usually dont like to make long winded comments, but I wanted to explain a few things and to give you the best price, of course (isn't that why we use Uship?) ;).Not in Violation

Response: Hi John; No i don't have anything at the residence. The weight problem is the tires, they weigh at about 700lbs. Tire accual tire weight is 390 lbs plus the rim. I verified it on a goodyear tire site. I don't know what you may have to help with loading. I can contact the folks were the tires are and see if they have any ideas. The tires are not fragile so they can be dragged around if need be. Let me know what you think. Dave4/10/2012Report a Violation

I am also assuming that the next auction is in Nisku? Can you confirm that Nisku is the location of the next auction for the forks and small attachments and the auction day please? I have a off site client who has asked me about a return haul from Manitoba and if it is along the same timeline, this covers my butt to the point that I make some money instead of losing some. I will lose money if I have given my word on something or I need to protect a reputation. Thanks for working with me on this Dave, it is appreciated. Rob.Report a Violation

Response: : If I need to respond to the lower bid that is being floated right now, I most certainly will. Just awaiting your go ahead. I was headed to Edmonton today but did not hear back from you in time. I can push it off a little bit longer but not much. I am headed to Lethbridge tomorrow to gather one item for my trip to BC next week. It would be nice to solidify my hauls as early as possible, there is little to no cell reception once I hit and stay in the mountains for 3 days. Please advise so I can plan my last available day. Hi David, I dropped my bid because it went much lower than I am willing to do it for, but I would like to add something, I feel there is drama here and it is being created by someone who invents it, then tries to accuse others of doing it to make them look as petty as he is, if I were you, I would be wary of dealings with these types. As for the gentleman who likes to insinuate things, you should find out who is flagging you before you indirectly point out the wrong person( but you were probably just trying to make others feel uncomfortable so they wont bring down your over inflated bids.) Good luck David, I see some great bids here that arent from anyone using juvenile tactics and long winded replies to ensure you over pay for a shipment. Not in Violation
Response: I am sorry to see you drop out of the bidding. I am not sure what is really happening between shippers but i hope it gets straightened out before it gets out of hand. I am new to UShip and don't know much about it but i hope i didn't do anything to cause the problem. Dave4/7/2012Report a Violation
