How uShip Works
I have used uShip a few times and have been very happy with the great quotes and service providers that I have hired. I ship paintings, which need special attention, but have always paid great prices. Saved hundreds of dollars.

I was shipping a 6' x 6' painting I created. Obviously, I was apprehensive and meticulous about who I selected. Based on positive feedback, I chose Lowell and Cary, aka "lakerats." The price was unbeatable and they helped load it onto the truck and move it into my apartment. I would definitely recommend using them.

Shipping Fragile Items

Shipping fragile goods can be a nerve-wracking experience for the sender and receiver. Delicate items like glassware, artwork, antiques and heirlooms have both monetary and sentimental value, so ensuring their safe transport is especially important. Damage often occurs due to improper packaging.

There are a few key practices that will decrease the risk of complications during transit. Make sure that glass items are properly wrapped with enough cushioning to prevent breakage. Unframed artwork should be carefully placed in a flat pack or print pad. If you don’t have access to these items, you can use two sturdy pieces of cardboard. Framed artwork should be packed in strong boxes or mirror pack boxes. Other packing materials to keep on hand include bubble wrap, packing peanuts, bed sheets and packing tape.

Pool tables, pianos, antiques, heirlooms and furniture also require special care. Choosing the right transporter, leaving ample time before pickup and communicating throughout the shipment are all just as important as properly packaging your items. You may want to consider hiring a transporter who offers white glove delivery service for items that may need an extra touch of care.
