Hurricane Katrina has affected thousands of Americans in ways many
of us can't imagine. Those most affected are the children of this
disaster. Forced to leave their homes, friends, and schools, many are
starting the school year in strange new cities, surrounded by
unfamiliar faces. Kids of Katrina is hoping to make this transition
easier, but we need your assistance.
uShip is working with Kids of Katrina to find a driver to pick-up
and deliver school supplies (backpacks, books, and more) from Long
Island, NY to two locations in Houston, TX and Baton Rouge, LA. These
supplies are going specifically to areas that have not received as much
attention as larger sites like the Astrodome.
Because Kids of Katrina has been such a huge success, we are
estimating that we will fill a large box truck -- in fact there are
approximately 140 boxes of supplies! All of the cargo has been packed
in sealed boxes, and are marked to identify where they need to go – all
you have to do is load the truck and help make the lives of these
children just a little better.
We are also pleased to announce that uShip will pay the entire cost of shipping.
