Job Title: Internet Marketing Intern
Job Description:
uShip is currently experiencing rapid growth as we scale our operations. We plan to continue and expand our grass roots, guerilla marketing efforts and we are looking to hire highly motivated, internet savvy marketing associates (both FT and internship) to join our team.
This is an outstanding position for an individual who wishes to gain exposure to the dynamic atmosphere of an internet start-up. You will be working directly with the uShip management and, although the primary focus of the position will be marketing, you will have a unique opportunity to experience and contribute to all aspects of the entrepreneurial process.
This position is based at uShip's corporate headquarters in Austin, TX.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist at a high level in all aspects of marketing. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Assisting in product development and marketing research by conducting surveys, interviews, questionnaires and focus groups, as well as internet based research
- Seeking, tracking and reporting feedback from existing members about the user experience and proposing process improvements
- Planning and executing direct marketing programs (primarily email and phone) to our existing customer base and prospective new members in order to grow our community and increase the frequency of use
- Assist in the planning and execution of tradeshows and other conferences and seminars
- Seeking, negotiating, and measuring business development and partnership opportunities
- Assisting with PR and mass media communication efforts
- Seeking, executing, and measuring guerilla marketing efforts aimed at increasing traffic and users to the site
- Assisting management in quantitative analysis, power point presentations, and other ad hoc projects as they arise
Our Ideal Candidate has:
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in business, communications, marketing, or related field from a 4 year college
- Highly experienced in using transaction based internet companies, such as eBay, Amazon, etc.
- Extremely comfortable communicating through various mediums (phone, email, IM, etc.)
- Previous marketing experience required
- Experienced using MS office products and working in a small team environment
- Highly motivated, independent thinker, who can solve problems as they arise with limited supervision
- Must be extremely detail oriented
- Photoshop and/or web design/graphic arts/HTML skills are a plus, though not required
