Job Title: General Manager, Global Businesses
Job Description:
uShip is seeking an exceptional individual to oversee the development, launch and growth of the uShip platform in multiple global markets. The GM of Global Businesses will report directly to the CEO and will research global transportation markets, indentify and prioritize opportunities for international expansion, develop the strategy and business plan for individual country websites, oversee the development and localization of global sites and generally manage the operation of all international business units. If you are an exceptionally motivated, smart, and driven individual who wants to lead the expansion of a successful, disruptive U.S. business model into non-U.S. global markets, this is the position for you.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create, develop and execute an expansion strategy for uShip into non-U.S. markets
- Create our "playbook" for launch and marketing of uShip country sites and recruit personnel to support global sites as necessary
- Research, understand and communicate uShip's unique value proposition within other global market and closely monitor the competitive landscape
- Work closely with the Marketing team to develop campaigns for international markets utilizing direct marketing (email, mail, phone sales), search/internet marketing, affiliate programs, trade shows, trade publications, and other advertising
- Work closely with the Business Development team to identify partnership prospects and create alliances that drive the growth of international business units
- Work with the Product and Development teams to tailor products and features specifically for each new country site
- Evaluate existing businesses in target countries for potential partnerships or acquisitions
- Full profit and loss responsibility for global business units
- Extensive travel and/or relocation to international offices may be required
Our Ideal Candidate:
- 5-10 years of experience as a marketing executive at an internet or e-commerce company, preferably one with a marketplace model and global reach
- Previous experience with international expansion of an internet or e-commerce business
- Entrepreneurial experience starting a business on a shoestring budget
- Experience working in a fast paced, agile project management environment
- Experience working with Marketing, Product, and Business Development teams
- Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining top management talent
- Experience researching and analyzing market opportunities
- Experience working in or with the Transport industry is a plus
- Significant experience living/working abroad, especially in Western Europe
- Fluency in a major foreign language (Spanish, French, German, etc)
- MBA from a top 20 program preferred
